Illinois Adds Rights and Safety Protections for Day and Temporary Workers
On August 4, 2023, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed HB 2862 into law, significantly amending the Illinois Day and Temporary Labor Services Act. Effective July 1, 2023, these amendments provide day and temporary laborers with strengthened equal pay rights and protection with several new safety and training requirements. New Form I-9 Is Finally Here
On schedule and as promised, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service has published a new Form I-9. Starting November 1, 2023, all employers must use the new Form I-9. Read more by our HR partner, MRA (includes a link to download the new form.)
NLRB Adopts Standard Critical of Employer Workplace Rules, Handbooks
On August 2, 2023, the National Labor Relations Board adopted a new burden-shifting standard for evaluating whether work rules infringe upon employees’ rights under Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act — that may require employers to narrowly tailor rules to avoid violating the act. Two Sides North America Anti-Greenwashing Campaign Persuades 21 Companies to Drop Environmental Claims
During the first six months of 2023, 21 companies representing approximately 90 million customers have removed greenwashing messages such as “Go green, Go paperless” and “Go paperless to help protect the environment” from their marketing communications. Read more by Two Sides North America.
