Cons Are on the Rise

A scam alert from your fellow GLGA member Printing Industry Credit Bureau:

There has been a resurgence of the old scam where a supposed customer elicits a quote and sends money to pay. The unaware Member who accepts the payment and produces the job finds the payment tendered was either washed or just fabricated, and its then too late because the Member has already invested in paper, postage and labor.

A GLGA member was nearly victimized by a scam where a supposed customer wanted a substantial job and actually sent a cashier's check that was fraudulent. PICB had them verify with their bank first, and the coordinating bank (where supposedly it was issued) confirmed no such check had been issued.

The only way to stop these criminals is to raise awareness.

AWARENESS CAN ELIMINATE MEMBER VICTIMIZATION

BE AWARE – BEWARE. When in doubt - don’t. If unsure, PICB can help.
