ROLEX LOS ANGELES SAIL GRAND PRIX RETURNS TO THE PORT OF LOS ANGELES MARCH 15-16

There’s an international sailing race on the horizon: SailGP – the most exciting racing on water – gears up to bring the Rolex Los Angeles Sail Grand Prix to the Port of Los Angeles on March 15-16. Taking place on a challenging racecourse out of Berth 46 in the Port’s Outer Harbor on the LA Waterfront, the competition features national sailing teams from around the globe battling it out for the top prize.

PORT OF LOS ANGELES STARTS 2025 WITH RECORD JANUARY

The Port of Los Angeles began 2025 by processing 924,245 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in January. It was the busiest start in the Port’s 117-year history and an 8% increase over last year.

The Port of Los Angeles helped facilitate the delivery of 580 air purifiers donated by Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), which was heavily impacted by the fires that swept through Los Angeles in January.

LOS ANGELES PORT POLICE RECOVER $600,00 WORTH OF STOLEN CHASSIS

The Los Angeles Port Police Criminal Investigation Section and the Los Angeles Police Department Commercial Crimes Unit have detained a suspect in connection with serial thefts of chassis at the Port of Los Angeles.



The suspect was apprehended following an inquiry that led investigators to a facility in Gardena, California, where they also discovered 24 suspected stolen chassis.

SAN PEDRO'S LIGHT-UP WELCOME SIGN ANTICIPATED FOR INSTALLATION IN FIRST HALF OF 2025

Four years after the idea was first floated, an illuminated “welcome” sign for San Pedro’s downtown/harbor district could finally see the light early this year.


Mired in L.A. city red tape spanning several departments — and bringing some complications of its own — the sign is nearing its final lap. That has required a change to using solar energy rather than the Department of Water and Power’s electrical grid. But had the original electric power plan stayed in place, supporters were looking at close to yet another year of back-and-forth reviews and study within the DWP alone, sign supporters said.

AltaSea, a nonprofit that develops the sustainable ocean economy, is shepherding the program at the Port of Los Angeles.
