TOP PORT PRIORITIES IN 2024

In his ninth annual ‘State of the Port’ address today before a sold-out crowd of more than 575 community, business and labor stakeholders, Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka presented the Port’s top initiatives and plans for the coming year. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, Los Angeles City Councilmember Tim McOsker and all five Los Angeles Harbor Commissioners were among those in attendance.

PROMENADE PROJECT

On Saturday, February 3, from 1 - 7 p.m., Port officials, community members and other project stakeholders will join together for the long-anticipated grand opening of the newly constructed Wilmington Waterfront Promenade. The festivities will begin with a 1 p.m. ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication, followed by the Port's annual Lunar New Year celebration, welcoming in the Year of the Dragon.

STATE OF THE PORT ADDRESS

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass delivered remarks at the 9th annual State of the Port today for more than 500 attendees including port workers, community members, labor leaders and business leaders. Los Angeles City Councilmember Tim McOsker, President of the Los Angeles Harbor Commission Lucille Roybal-Allard, Vice President of the Harbor Commission Diane Middleton and Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka were among those in attendance. Mayor Bass highlighted the national role that the Port of Los Angeles plays as “America’s Port” and praised the workers who operate the port each and every day.

PORT RELEASES DRAFT SUBSEQUENT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT FOR

SA RECYCLING PERMIT AMENDMENT

The Port of Los Angeles has released a Draft Subsequent Environmental Impact Report (DSEIR) for the SA Recycling Amendment to Permit No. 750 Project. Located at 901 New Dock Street on Terminal Island, the proposed project seeks an amendment to Permit No. 750 to allow for an up to 10-year extension of SA Recycling's existing operations, with up to five additional years for use of the site as a non-operational restoration period for any necessary closure and remediation activities to restore the property.

The Port of Los Angeles has released an Initial Study/Notice of Preparation (IS/NOP) – the first step in the environmental review process – for the proposed Berth 44 Boatyard Project.

PORT OF LA PROMOTES CHRIS BROWN TO CHIEF HARBOR ENGINEER

The Port of Los Angeles announces the appointment of Chris Brown to Chief Harbor Engineer, the lead position overseeing the Port’s Engineering Division. Brown replaces Dina Aryan-Zahlan, who was recently promoted to Deputy Executive Director of Development at America’s busiest port.
