Graphic Arts Employment Up Slightly in July
The industry’s attempts at recruiting production staff are succeeding, albeit modestly, and mostly in the “carpeted area” of the plant: in July 2022, all printing employment was up 0.7 percent from June, with non-production employment up 1.8 percent and production employment up 0.2 percent. Details Emerging About USPS Delivery Unit Consolidations
Documents provided by the Postal Service to its labor groups detail the initial moves to implement the network redesign contained in the Postmaster General’s 10-year Plan. Generally, the redesign would impact the mail processing, transportation, and delivery infrastructure; similarly, sweeping changes are not anticipated for retail facilities. On-Demand Pay: Employees Love It, But Tax Implications Linger
Research suggests that more than 60 percent of U.S. workers would like to be able to access their earnings before their regularly scheduled paydays. While on-demand pay may be a valuable recruiting and retention tool for employers, the immediate availability of wages carries with it certain tax implications for employers that may not easily be avoided without updates to the tax laws and regulations. New Survey Shows Readers Overwhelmingly Prefer Physical Books
A new survey among 2,400 book readers of all ages in the United States, U.K., France and Germany found that people still overwhelmingly prefer physical books for their look, their feel and even their smell. The study had some surprise results from the youngest group (16-to-24 year olds), where 70 percent said they preferred physical books over e-books. Read more on TwoSidesna.org.
