Maritime Fun Fact: California is home to 11 major ports.

Join the Port of Redwood City at one of our upcoming community events this fall!

We are excited to announce our beloved annual PortFest event is returning on Saturday, Oct. 1. PortFest is a Redwood City tradition full of unique and fun opportunities to explore our waterfront.

We also invite the community to join us at the Rock the Dock Fall Concert Series, starting on Sept. 3. As always, we love singing and dancing with the community at our waterfront stage.

I’d like to thank the Port’s partners and Board of Port Commissioners for supporting the upcoming community events. A special thank you to Commissioner Claire whose vision and leadership as chairman over the past year have advanced the Port in many areas. In this edition of Currents, you’ll learn more about the Port Board of Port Commissioners and the new officers.

Don’t forget to follow the Port on social media to stay up to date on events and news!

Board of Port Commissioners election of officers

The Board of Port Commissioners consists of five members, appointed by the Redwood City Council for four-year terms. As members of Redwood City, Port Commissioners are responsible for the supervision and control of the Port area, waterfront properties and adjacent lands.

At the Aug. 24 Board of Port Commissioners meeting, the Board elected new officers to lead the Port Commission for fiscal year 2022-23. Commissioner Ralph Garcia will begin his term as chairman, Commissioner Lorianna Kastrop as vice chair and Commissioner Stan Maupin as secretary. The Port also welcomes Stan Maupin and Nancy C. Radcliffe as new commissioners. A special thank you to Commissioner Claire for his recent leadership this past fiscal year.

PortFest is back this year

Save the Date: Oct. 1

We are so very excited to host our community this year for our annual PortFest. Join us on Saturday, Oct. 1 for the Port of Redwood City’s community celebration and waterfront festival. This free event welcomes the community to learn about Redwood City’s maritime heritage and experience a day on the bay adventures.

This year’s activities will include live music, family-friendly activities, food and drink booths, boat tours, behind-the-scenes tours of our working waterfront and more! Tickets for the Marine Science Institutes' Brownlee boat tours are available on their website. Purchase tickets early as this is a very popular waterside tour every year. Additionally, free waterside tours will be offered by the Sea Scouts and Girl Scouts.
