The deepest point of San Francisco Bay is located under the Golden Gate Bridge at 372 feet.

July is off to a spectacular start here at the Port! I want to thank the community for attending Redwood City’s annual Independence Day Parade, hosted by the Peninsula Celebration Association, followed by the Port’s firework show on the waterfront. We hope you enjoyed the festivities as much as we did.

This month, we’d like to recognize and thank three of our Board of Port Commissioners for completing their most recent service terms. Richard Claire, Ralph Garcia, and Lorianna Kastrop have served multiple four-year terms as commissioners, each individually completing nearly two decades in service at the Port. Their commitment to excellence has transformed the Port throughout the years; we thank them for their service to our community.

With summer in full swing, the Port offers lots of activities to enjoy with family and friends. If you’re looking for an evening of free live music and delicious food vendors, join us for our Rock the Dock concert series, happening every Saturday from now until November.

Need another idea to keep the summer activities going? Thanks to the new Redwood City Ballpark Service Pilot Program, you can now take the ferry to watch a Giants game. Whether you’re taking in the views of the bay, enjoying an evening in the city or heading to the ballpark, the ferry provides convenience and ease of travel, so you can enjoy all that the city has to offer.

We hope to see you along the waterfront!

Warm Regards,

Kristine A. Zortman

Executive Director

Thank you Commissioners Richard Claire, Ralph Garcia, and Lorianna Kastrop

The Port of Redwood City would not be the same without our dedicated Board of Port Commissioners. We want to thank three of our five commissioners who will be completing their term of service at the end of this month.

  • Richard Claire served a 16-year tenure on Port Commission. He also served 21 years on the Redwood City Council, including four years as Redwood City Mayor and seven years on Planning Commission.
  • Ralph Garcia served a 19-year tenure on Port Commission. He is also known for having more than 40 years of business experience in the Redwood City area and serving on the Redwood City planning commission for ten years.
  • Lorianna Kastrop served a 16-year tenure on Port Commission, being the second woman to ever serve. She is notably the founder of PortFest and has previously served on nonprofit boards in the Redwood City area.

The slate of new Port Commissioners will take office this August. Once again, we thank our outgoing Commissioners for their loyal service to the Port.

Meet our commissioners

Ferry ride to Oracle Park

You’re only a port ride away to the ballpark this summer. The Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) approved the Redwood City Ballpark Service Pilot Project which will provide direct ferry services from the Port of Redwood City to the Port of San Francisco for select summer Giants games. Plan to catch a ride on the following dates:

  • Sunday, July 28, vs. Rockies
  • Sunday, August 11, vs. Tigers
  • Sunday, September 1, vs. Marlins
  • Sunday, September 15, vs. Padres

Not a baseball fan? No problem! You can still take the ferry to enjoy a day in San Francisco, just be sure to keep an eye on the return time back to the Port of Redwood City.
