Maritime Fun Fact: It took a 106-day voyage for the smallest boat to ever sail across the Atlantic Ocean, measuring five feet and four inches in length.

We’re halfway through summer and excited to share everything happening at the Port of Redwood City. It’s a joy seeing our community cruising along the Redwood Creek Channel or enjoying an ocean-view stroll at the Port. Keep reading to learn more about the exciting facts, food and festivities at the Port.

The Port would like to acknowledge the City of Redwood City, for their 4th of July celebration at our Port. As we approach the end of July, we’re sharing global maritime and sailing trivia from the early ages to the 21st century – who’s ready?

When you find yourself at the Port, grab a bite at our newest cuisine options, Pico’s BBQ and Blue Fish Kitchen. Our food vendors are available during Rock the Dock, so stop by every Saturday for great food and good music.

Also, I’d like to recognize the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary (U.S.C.G. Auxiliary) for their volunteer-led force that helps keep our Bay waters safe when you’re on and near the water.

Warm Regards,

Kristine A. Zortman

Executive Director

United States Coast Guard Auxiliary – our partners in water safety

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary (U.S.C.G. Auxiliary) is an integral partner in maintaining the safety and vitality of Port waterways. The organization is a dedicated civilian volunteer arm of the U.S.C.G. andfosters an environment where cargo ships and recreational boaters operate in harmony.

Members provide frequent ship safety checks, marine observation patrols and boater safety classes. For visitors, families, boaters and ship operators, the U.S.C.G. Auxiliary ensures the waterways are safe and welcoming for all.

The U.S.C.G. Auxiliary encourages everyone to refresh their water safety skills, whether you’re an expert sailor or a first-time kayaker. Online boating courses are available, and new volunteers are always welcome to join this growing network of safety stewards.
