Maritime Fun Fact: Oceans, seas and bays make up nearly 97% of Earth’s water.
Spring into warmer weather and outdoor adventures at the Port of Redwood City! We recently opened our newly built public fishing pier which is the perfect destination to cast a line with friends and family.

Port tenants such as Spinnaker Sailing and California Kayak and Canoe offer a variety of opportunities to get out on our waterways. Regardless of the activity, any time spent at the Port is bound to be a splash of fun

The Port’s maritime workforce, cargo terminals and supportive industrial activities play a key role in the region’s economy. Additionally, the Port's maritime sector provides the revenue stream for the Port to implement many initiatives serving the public. Learn five facts about how maritime serves as an economic engine in the Maritime Commerce section.

In the coming months, there will be several community events hosted on our waterfront. We invite you to join the fun this spring, and maybe even consider hosting your next event at the Port

Thank you to our community for the continued support. The Port is committed to expanding community resources to benefit the greater San Mateo County and Silicon Valley residents and visitors.
Warm Regards,
Kristine A. Zortman
Executive Director, Port of Redwood City

Safe spring water activities
Now that spring has sprung, it means later sunsets and more time to play in the evenings. We want our community to stay safe on the water this spring. Here are a few water safety tips for boating at the Port:

  • Always carry a life jacket: Check your personal flotation device’s buckles, padding and overall fit before launching your floatation device from land.
  • Check paddle and oars: Inspect paddles and oars for cracks or broken pieces.
  • Routine tune-ups: Conduct a routine tune-up if you’re using an electric or fuel-powered vessel.
  • Check the weather and tides: Stay safe and alert by checking weather and tides before heading out.
  • Bring lights: Be prepared for sunset and have lights readily available on your vessel.
