PORT OF LOS ANGELES ISSUES REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL FOR PRE-DEVELOPMENT OF POTENTIAL NEW TERMINAL | | The Port of Los Angeles is seeking proposals from interested parties to participate in the pre-development of Pier 500, a proposed new stand-alone marine container terminal along the Pier 400 Channel. The selected entity would enter into a public-private pre-development agreement with the Port to scope the project’s financial feasibility, procure entitlements and handle other requirements needed before implementation and build-out of the project. | | WATERFRONT DINING IS BACK AT SAN PEDRO FISH MARKET WITH OPENING OF NEW LANDING | | |
The waterfront views are back as the famous San Pedro Fish Market opens an expanded version of its iconic oceanside back deck dubbed the New Landing.
“We are thrilled to reveal this new and improved phase of our New Landing and welcome the community to experience more of what they know and love about San Pedro Fish Market,” said Michael Ungaro, CEO and owner, in a statement. “This location is more than a restaurant — it’s a destination, one that honors our heritage while embracing the energy of what’s to come.”

| | SAN PEDRO BAY PORTS SEND OUT RFI ON METHANOL BUNKERING PILOT PROJECT | | The global maritime sector is in the midst of a major transformation as ports, shipping lines, and fuel suppliers accelerate efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions and transition to low- and zero-carbon fuels. Methanol (CH₃OH), a simple liquid alcohol, has emerged as one of the most promising alternatives. It is liquid at ambient temperature, sulfur-free, and capable of reducing nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, and greenhouse gas compared to conventional marine fuels. Critically, its environmental performance and decarbonization potential depend on its production pathway, with renewable methanol (bio- and e-methanol) offering near-zero life-cycle emissions. | | MAYOR BASS SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER TO STREAMLINE AIRPORTS, PORT, DWP PROJECTS | | |
Mayor Karen Bass Friday signed an executive order streamlining infrastructure projects led by the city’s three proprietary departments to speed up major investments ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The order allows the mayor to overhaul what she described as “outdated review processes,” giving her the ability to make faster decisions without compromising oversight or accountability. These changes will ensure that major projects such as the $2.6 billion Convention Center Expansion Project or developments at LAX will be completed on time and within budget, according to the Mayor’s Office.
| ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S OVATION COMPLETES FIRST SUMMER SEASON IN LA | | |
The Ovation of the Seas recently completed its first summer season sailing from Los Angeles for Royal Caribbean International.
The 2016-built vessel arrived at the World Cruise Center in late May, kicking off a series of cruises to Mexico from San Pedro.
The three-, five- and six-night itineraries sailed to destinations in Baja and the Mexican Riviera, visiting destinations that included Ensenada and Cabo San Lucas.
The Port of Los Angeles bid farewell to the Quantum-class ship, highlighting its operations from California in a social media post.
