VIRGIN VOYAGES NOW SAILING FROM THE PORT OF LOS ANGELES FOR FIRST TIME 

For the first time ever, Virgin Voyages kicked off a brand-new West Coast itinerary sailing from the Los Angeles Cruise Terminal, with its newest ship, Brilliant Lady, making the Port of Los Angeles its homeport this spring.

 

This maiden call marks the cruise line’s fresh start on the West Coast, featuring adults-only cruising and unique experiences to iconic destinations.

PORT OF LOS ANGELES SECURES APPROXIMATELY $70 MILLION FROM U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS, RECORD AMOUNT FOR HARBOR MAINTENANCE

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has allocated approximately $70 million from the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund (HMTF) to the Port of Los Angeles for harbor maintenance, seismic resiliency and navigational safety improvements.  The San Pedro Bay port complex was allocated a record $131.8 million.

The Dalmation American Club (DAC) will celebrate its 100th Anniversary on Saturday, May 2. Organized in 1926, the Dalmatian American Club in San Pedro, formerly the Yugoslav-American Club, was founded to encourage, promote and cultivate fellowship and unity.

Caltrans (District 7) will implement overnight closures of westbound State Route 47 (SR-47) at Vincent Thomas Bridge between Ferry Street and Harbor Boulevard beginning Sunday night, April 12. Closures will occur Sunday night through Friday morning, from 10:45 p.m. to 6:45 a.m.

CABRILLO MARINE AQUARIUM TO CELEBRATE 90TH BIRTHDAY; UNVEILS $8 MILLION RENOVATION

FUNDED BY THE PORT OF LOS ANGELES 
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH RECREATION & PARKS

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is celebrating its 90th birthday by unveiling an $8 million renovation that includes a new life support system, a new Collections Room, and three new exhibits. Everyone is invited!


The new Life Support System will keep the flow and temperature controlled and the salt water clean. During the 18-month closure of its Main Exhibit Hall, the Aquarium also integrated a Welcome Exhibit that illustrates the collision of currents, bilingual signs promoting inclusivity, a Grunion Exhibit showcasing Cabrillo Beach's unique history, a Jelly Lab, and a new Collections Room, harkening back to the Aquarium's origins as a museum. Here, the Aquarium will showcase its collection of rare species, including whale bones and other treasures.


Members Only VIP Access to April 11 Event

Members of Friends of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium will get a sneak peek at the new offerings at an exclusive evening event featuring music, dancing, and the premiere of a film about the history of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. Attendees will be treated to birthday cake and a commemorative pin. Grand Opening and Earth Day Celebration April 18

In addition, the Aquarium will host an Earth Day party from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. This will be the public's first look at the highly anticipated renovation. Guests will enjoy fanfare from the San Pedro High School band, folklorico dancers, presentations from environmental groups, and a beach cleanup. Admission is free, with donations encouraged but never required.

Marina Cafe Wilmington Shores was established in March of 2015. Located in the heart of the Wilmington Marinas, the cafe sits on a quiet peninsula in Yacht Haven Marina with breathtaking views of the LA Harbor.

This hidden gem is owned and operated by San Pedro/Rancho Palos Verdes local, Sheri Hadjis. Sheri got an early start working with her family at their restaurant, El Sombrero, then went on to UCLA Culinary Arts School. Sheri later opened Miraleste Catering in 1996, which inspired her to open the brick-and-mortar restaurant that we know today as the Marina Cafe Wilmington Shores.
