RE-OPENS ON THE PORT'S LA WATERFRONT
| | On Thursday, August 7, Port of Los Angeles staff, along with Councilman Tim McOsker and Los Angeles Harbor Commissioners Yolanda de la Torre and Lee Williams, hosted the re-opening ceremony of the Fanfare Fountain, The festivities began with a performance by the Regatta Band, followed by the officials flipping the switch to launch the fountain's first public performance after being closed for repairs for some time. The fountain delighted hundreds of attendees with a captivating synchronized water show set to the song "Celebration", while an almost full moon rose in the evening sky. The Fanfare Fountain, located at Gateway Plaza where Harbor Boulevard and Swinford Streets meet at the foot of the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, is currently open to the public from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering musical dancing water shows every 30 minutes. | | PORT ANNOUNCES THREE-MONTH CLOSURE OF NORTHBOUND I-110 ON-RAMP, SOUTHBOUND SR 47 OFF-RAMP AT HARBOR BOULEVARD IN SAN PEDRO | | The Port of Los Angeles announced long-term closures near the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro as part of the SR 47 Interchange Project. Starting Monday, Aug. 18, crews will close the northbound I-110 on-ramp at Harbor Boulevard and the southbound SR 47 off-ramp at Harbor Boulevard, while construction of the new roadway and ramps continues. A new northbound on-ramp to I-110 and southbound off-ramp to SR 47 will open in November 2025, along with a newly realigned Knoll Drive. | | WILMINGTON WATERFRONT PROMENADE PLAY AREA RECEIVES COOL NEW SHADE STRUCTURE | | |
The shade structure project at the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade play area has recently been completed, offering shade and cooler conditions for visitors of all ages. The play area, located adjacent to the bluff above the Promenade, near Banning's Landing Community Center, features mountaineering ropes, climbing nets, rockers and a custom tower slide.
The play area is located in the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade. Completed and opened to the public in 2024, the promenade consists of nine acres of public space along the water's edge in Wilmington, complemented by a picnic pier, public dock, swings and tidal steps.
