Casting for Character
August 20th & 21st

Have you ever caught a 20 pound lake trout? You might think it’s a fish tail but you can have the thrill of reeling in a 20lb king salmon right here on Lake Ontario. The 26 th annual Casting for Character Fishing event will be August 20 and 21 st in Rochester. There is still room available for teams to sign up and participate. Proceeds from the event go to benefit programs of the Seneca Waterways Council. Of note this year we already have 4 teams from different scout units where a company or donor has sponsored a group of scouts for the day. If you have a group of scouts or team that would like to participate you can get more information by contacting Stephen Hoitt at 585-241-8554.
High Adventure Awaits

Philmont Scout Ranch offers programs that feature the best of the Old West—horseback riding, burrow packing, gold panning, chuckwagon dinners, and interpretive history—with exciting challenges such as rock climbing, mountain biking, and sport shooting. It’s an unbeatable recipe for fast-paced fun in the outdoors. If you want to learn more about the Philmont contingents, come visit the Scout Service Center on June 4, 2019 at 7:30pm ! Be Prepared. Save A Life.

Wilderness First Aid (WFA) courses are intended for anyone planning a remote high adventure. Treatment skills are important, but so is educating Scouts and adult leaders to recognize illnesses early and minimize the potential for injury. The skills learned in a BSA-approved WFA course can save lives. WFA is not just for the backcountry. It is just as relevant in urban areas during hurricanes, floods, fires, or mass casualty events when emergency services might be strained. WFA knowledge can be lifesaving.
