Curriculum Renewal: Town Hall Recording
Last month, nearly 200 Zucker School of Medicine faculty, staff, students and alumni participated in a town hall, hosted by Dr. David Battinelli and Dr. Samara Ginzburg, kicking off the school's curriculum review process called Curriculum Renewal: Courage to Change.
During the town hall, Drs. Battinelli and Ginzburg outlined the operations, goals and vision for the process. Curriculum Renewal will shape how we prepare our medical students for tomorrow's healthcare industry.

If you were unable to attend the town hall, you can view the recording by clicking here.

Thank you for submitting your ideas and suggestions for speakers and topics for our Curriculum Renewal Speaker Series. As you know, we want to engage everyone in the process of Curriculum Renewal and we hope our speaker series will help stimulate creative thinking and engaging discussions.

Summary: In more than a century since the Flexner report, the fields that comprise
“the sciences of learning” (education, neurobiology of learning, social and cognitive psychology, among others) have advanced greatly. Despite this progress, medical education has been slow to translate these empirically-derived sciences to our
educational models, structures, and practices. In this session, we will actively engage five empirically-derived sciences of learning using these very sciences of learning.
The hope is that education leaders, classroom teachers, clinical educators, and learners will value and benefit from these approaches and be better able to serve our future learners, patients, and communities thereby.
