November 4, 2020

Dear Hastings Community,

Last year, we convened a Curriculum Thought Group made up of teachers, parents, administrators, and community members. The purpose of this group was to consider the internal and external perceptions of our system and to begin conversation around the academic and social-emotional learning skills and knowledge students will need to be successful in an ever-changing world.

We are in the process of reestablishing this group for the 2020-2021 school year and would like to expand the membership to include parents, teachers, students, administrators, teaching assistants, teacher aides, custodians, clerical employees, and community members. This year, our focus will be a continuation of discussion around the skills students will need for work, life, and future learning. We will consider post-pandemic implications for students, skills that will be vital for our learners to succeed as they transition to life beyond school, and how particular skills are represented in curriculum and instructional practices.

Please complete this survey if you are interested in becoming a part of this group. We will be meeting on the following Thursdays from 3:30pm - 4:30pm: 11/19, 1/14, 3/25, and 4/29.

Best regards,

Melissa Szymanski
Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum & Instruction
