All youth participating in North Carolina 4-H Programs need to have an individual youth profile in 4HOnline.

Each adult volunteer must have an individual adult profile.

Individual profiles are created after a family profile is created.

Contact your County Extension Office if you have questions or experience problems.

The Horse Bowl Contest is designed to offer an opportunity for youths interested in horses to display the knowledge they have gained in a competitive and friendly atmosphere. Additionally, it is designed to encourage youths and leaders to study and obtain a more thorough and complete knowledge of horses and related subject matter. Youths will gain confidence in their horse knowledge and be rewarded and recognized for their achievements. Local club, county, or inter county competition is encouraged whenever feasible. Finally, the Horse Bowl Contest is designed to always provide an enjoyable educational experience for participants and spectators.

The Horse Judging Contest is designed to teach participants good conformation (structural correctness, balance, and muscling), breed character, and performance ideals in different breeds of horses. Additionally, the Horse Judging contest will teach participants how to evaluate horses based on knowledge and fact, make a decision, and defend it. The Contest will teach participants horsemanship terms that can be used in a logical, systematic way to defend placings and will help participants gain confidence in their ability and use of the English language by giving oral reasons to a judge while learning to speak clearly, decisively, and convincingly through the use of oral reasons.

Volunteers are the keys to our success in the North Carolina 4-H program. Whether you're interested in becoming a club leader, or just have a few hours to invest, we've got challenging and fun jobs for adults and teens who want to make a difference.

Adult volunteers play an important role in the 4-H program. They mentor 4-H youth, coordinate local community clubs, and help to plan and run events.

For more information on these and other 4-H activities and events please contact the NC Cooperative Extension Service, Currituck County Center at 252-232-2262.
