Cushing News & Announcements

School Picture Retake Day - Tuesday, October 11

Empire Photography will be at Cushing on Tuesday, October 11th for our students who need their picture taken/retaken. Pictures will be taken in the morning and we will do our best to have them done before recess!

**If you would like your learner(s) to have their picture taken/retaken, please let their teacher and Mrs. Mirek ([email protected]) know.

Decathlon T-Shirts

Please hold onto your learner’s Decathlon t-shirt. There will be times throughout the year where students will be asked to wear this year’s shirt - field trips, school events, etc.

Pumpkins!

Pumpkins will be handed out on a first come, first served basis. Because we will be receiving a limited number of pumpkins, we may not be able to fulfill every request. Please only take 1 pumpkin per Cushing student in your family.

The pumpkins will be at school on Monday, October 17. If your child is bringing the pumpkin home on the bus, be sure to provide either a pillowcase or strong bag that will hold a large pumpkin. Precautions for a safe return to Cushing by Thursday, October 20 would also be a good idea. Carved pumpkins can be set on the grass by the Front Lobby doors.

If you would like a pumpkin permission form, you can find it in the PTO section.

Cub Scout Info Night - Friday, October 14

Any 5K and 1st Grade families that are interested in learning about Cub Scouts are invited to attend our Information Night on Friday, October 14 from 6:30-7:30 in the Cushing Cafeteria. Come and learn what Cub Scouts is all about. We will have activities for the kids while we talk to the adults. We hope to see you there! Currently enrolled Scout families do not need to attend.

Lunch Choices When Coming in Late

If your learner will be coming in late AND they need a Hot Lunch or Milk, please let their teacher and Mrs. Mirek know. Lunch Counts are done first thing in the morning and we want to make sure we order enough food. Thanks for your help!

Fall Spirit Day - Monday, October 31

Students can wear orange and black on this day and will participate in a buddy class activity sometime that week. Costumes are discouraged for safety reasons.

Veterans Day Program

Veterans Day is a time we remember and honor the men and women of our armed services. The staff and students at Cushing would like to honor current and past service members for Veterans Day. If you or a family member is/was a member of any service branch and would like to send in a picture AND/OR participate in a Veterans Day event at Cushing on 11/10, please complete this survey.

Note: Third grade students will be singing at this event, but veterans of all grade level students are welcome to attend. Photos of veterans are encouraged even if they can't attend!

When: Thursday, November 10th at 9:00 AM

Where: Cushing Elementary Gym

Who is invited to attend: All third grade parents (no matter if they are a veteran) and veterans of Cushing students (any grade level).

Please submit one entry for every veteran that will attend. This form is a place to give pictures (for veteran attendees or ones that can't come) AND a form to sign up to attend.
