Message from Mrs. Rach

One of our collective school goals is to improve feedback and communication with families about how students are progressing throughout the year.  Cushing’s communication and community relations goal for the 22-23 school year is:

By the end of the 2022-2023, we will see an increase in positive parent responses around feedback and communication as measured by the responses to the following statements on the KMSD Parent/Guardian Survey:

  • Q 15: My child is recognized for good work and behavior at this school
  • Q 14: I regularly receive feedback from staff on how well my child is doing

One of the action steps we are taking towards this goal is to provide parents with a mid-semester progress update, similar to a progress report.  As we head into winter break, teachers will be sharing these updates with families and they will provide a snapshot of your learner’s reading, writing, math, and citizenship progress since conferences in early November. Please take some time to review this update on your child’s progress when you receive it.

On another note, one of our Star Council subcommittees is concluding their drive for the Christmas Clearing Council.  I wanted to thank all of our families who participated by donating items off a wish list to help make this time of year brighter for others.  Additionally, thank you to the parent volunteers who have spent time these past few weeks volunteering at the Holiday Gift Shop, in our Design Lab, in classrooms and in so many other capacities.  During this busy season, we appreciate your willingness to give back and spend time helping our Cushing Stars and staff.

Lost & Found

We have a lot of Lost items waiting to be Found. If your student is missing something, there’s a real good chance it’s in our Lost & Found. The next time you’re at Cushing, swing by to see if anything belongs to your family. Parents seem to have the magic touch with finding lost items.

Cushing PTO

**LAST DAY** to Participate in the Staff Holiday Gift Giving Program

The PTO is offering a Holiday Gift Card Program to say "Thank you for a great start to the school year and we wish you a Happy Holidays!” To all Cushing teachers, staff and bus drivers. Participation is optional.

Here’s how the program works:

You make a monetary contribution to the teacher/staff members and bus driver of your choice. Your child’s gift is then combined with all other contributions for that particular staff member and the staff member will be presented with one BIG gift card to the stores of their choosing. The gift cards will be presented in a Thank You card that contains the names (NOT the amounts!) of all the families who contributed to the gift.

THIS IS A 2 STEP PROCESS:

STEP 1: Please make sure to enter your family name (EXAMPLE: SMITH FAMILY) in this Google Form:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfsx5gMSY8P8bAtzypzN34IVjVzIFWQQ67iG0th__dCVGCk1A/viewform?usp=sf_link

Then select the teachers you'd like to give to and list the dollar amount (MUST be WHOLE dollar increments - no change please, $1, $3, $5, $10, $20, etc.).

Then total up your order.

STEP 2: Copy this CLASSMUNITY LINK to pay your total with a debit/credit card. These orders will be compiled and gift cards will be distributed to each individual. www.kmsd.edu/staffgivingprogramholidayseason2022

Any amount is appreciated!

*Program runs until Friday, December 9th.
