Message from Ms. Hanson

Dear Families,

As I sit back and think about my past month here at Cushing, I have been reflecting upon all of the observations I have made and new information that I have gathered. This has included classroom observations, student surveys, staff input, as well as the reviewing of student data to help support areas of need around our school. Based on this and conversations with both our School Leadership Team and our Student Services Team, we have decided that we will have a school-wide focus for the next two months on respect.  Today at our all-school assembly, the topic of respect was introduced as our next school-wide focus. In the next two months, students will see respect themes infused within their class guidance lessons, they will be engaging in the process of creating classroom respect agreements, and they will also be learning about respect through announcements and read-alouds. Look for more information to come in the upcoming weekly Cushing Chronicles related to this school-wide work, and how you can help encourage and reinforce this work at home!

Cushing News & Announcements

Read Across America Day - Thursday, March 2nd

In celebration of Read Across America Day, Cushing will be having a dress up day! We recognize at the elementary level that celebration and fun helps to build community and classroom culture. For RAA Day, students and teachers will be offered the opportunity to dress up like their favorite book character and bring this book along with them to school. On Thursday morning, we will be holding a small parade through our hallways, to showcase and celebrate all of our guest “characters” for the day. We request that costumes are school appropriate, and will not hinder learning in any way throughout the day (i.e., no inflatable costumes, fake weapons, masks that cover the face).

Rach Family Meal Train

Meal prep, cooking, and newborns don't really go together. Fortunately for Mrs. Rach and her family, Food is our Love Language. To help the Rach family as they navigate their new crew and day-to-day life, we have put together a Meal Train and will be delivering food on Wednesdays through the rest of the school year. Meals, snacks, and gift cards can be dropped off at Cushing Elementary.

Click HERE for the Meal Train. Thanks for your help. We all know it takes a village.

Updated Cushing Staff “Mothers’ Room”

A group of passionate Cushing Moms have come together after a realization was made last winter about the state of our Staff "Mothers' Room". A Parent-lead proposal was made in May 2022 to the PTO for an update to the current space for the '22-'23 Budget. Due to the PTO’s large playground commitment, funds could not be allocated towards this project.

Therefore, this group of Cushing Moms are moving forward to make the update happen. Painting and organization is already underway, but we are in need of a few items to complete this space.

The MUST HAVE items are noted for ease HERE (ships directly to Cushing). Donations from home are encouraged for decor or you could buy elsewhere. It’s inspiration for what we need to fill the space. Just mark and drop off at Cushing. We are grateful for any and all contributions.

PLEASE HAVE ITEMS ORDERED BY FRIDAY, MARCH 3RD

Please email [email protected] (Megan Stevens) if you have any questions.
