Message from Mrs. Rach
This spring, we will be hosting our first Learner-Led Progress Updates rather than traditional parent-teacher conferences. During these progress updates, families and their learner(s) will go to classrooms where learners will be showcasing their schoolwork, discussing their educational progress, and reflecting on past and current goals. Families will also have the opportunity to share feedback, ask questions and/or provide comments to learner(s).

We have several goals for holding conferences using this format:

  • For parents – rather than being told about a learner’s progress, we hope that families will get to see and hear from their learner(s) about all of the great things they’re proud of.
  • For students – this is an opportunity to develop a sense of agency by sharing their progress with an authentic audience (you)! We also know that this will provide learners with a greater sense of ownership for their learning.
  • For teachers – we want teachers to continue to build strong partnerships with their students and families. This format allows us to support students, so they can lead meaningful and impactful conversations.
  • For all – we want to maximize our time together, create ways to partner with one another to support student success.

If you have specific questions or concerns that might be better addressed by the classroom teacher in a 1:1 conference, please feel free to reach out to them to schedule a time to meet. We are excited about this new learner-led format and welcome any questions you may have.
Cushing News & Announcements
5th Grade Overnight Trip
This year, the district has made the decision to offer each 5th grade student an overnight experience and Cushing 5th grade students will be going on an overnight trip to Camp Edwards in early May. Though the location of the trip has changed, it is exciting that these students will be able to have an overnight, outdoor educational experience with their peers. More information will be shared with fifth grade families in the coming weeks.

Dress Up Day: Ties, Tutus, & Twins Day!
On 2.2.22, students can wear Ties, Tutus, or dress up as Twins to celebrate all the “2s.”

Early Pick Up?
If you will be picking your student up early from school, please send an email to their teacher(s) and Mrs. Mirek ([email protected]) to let them know. Do not submit “Leave Early” requests in Online Attendance. Elementary schools do attendance differently than middle/high school. Thanks!

5K in the Fall
An email was sent out to families who have a student who will be eligible to attend 5K at Cushing in the Fall. If you did receive this email, please submit the form as soon as you can. If you have a student OR know a family with a student who will be in 5K in the Fall and lives in the Cushing attendance area, but DID NOT receive this email, please contact Mrs. Mirek: 262.646.6700, [email protected]
