Message from Mrs. Rach
Spring Ahead! With the warmer weather, we wanted to share a few reminders with our families. As the snow melts, it is helpful to have an extra set of clothing for younger children in their backpack in case they get muddy or wet. If your child borrows clothing from our Health Room, please be sure they return them after use.

As a school, we ask that students wear their coats when it is 50 degrees or cooler. Please be sure that your child brings a coat to school on cooler days. Hoping that you’re able to enjoy the warmer weather and sunshine ahead!

Class Placement for Next Year
The teams at Cushing take time to carefully balance all classrooms for the next school year. They take gender, behavior, academics, and special needs into account. If you have thoughts you would like us to consider about your child that we don’t already know, please complete THIS FORM. Form(s) need to be submitted by April 22 for your information to be considered.

Please know that we put a great deal of thought into these class placements and specific teacher requests will be disregarded.

5K in the Fall
Children who are 5 years old on or before September 1 may attend kindergarten this Fall in the Kettle Moraine School District. If you know a family in the Cushing attendance area (or the KM school district) with a child that fits those requirements, please let them know they can start the online enrollment process now. If they have any questions, they can contact Mrs. Mirek (262-646-6700, [email protected]).

Children who are enrolled in a KM4K program are AUTOMATICALLY enrolled in KM5K.

Message from the Health Room
There has been some confusion about PCR vs. antigen testing for COVID-19.

  • If a child stays home OR has been sent home with symptoms of COVID-19 and you wish to have them tested, KMSD requires a negative PCR test, which follows the CDC and Waukesha County guidelines for schools. This is for children with symptoms.

  • Not every doctor’s office automatically does PCR testing. Please verify the type of testing before having it done.

  • Documented proof of a negative PCR test is required before a child is allowed back in the classroom along with the child being symptom free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication.

Feel free to email our Health Room Staff: Susan Wilson ([email protected]) and/or Becky Chiang ([email protected]) or call the COVID-19 RN or Health Hotline if you have any questions.

Save the Date: 2021 Cushing Variety Show
WhenApril 23, 2021
How: We will be taking pre-recorded digital submissions from each participant, and are planning to have a live viewing on the evening of April 23rd where students can watch from home with their families. We will also be working with the students’ teachers to coordinate times for them to watch with their class. Details on sign-up, format, and digital requirements will follow in the coming weeks, but you can absolutely start planning with your child what amazing talent they would like to showcase! We are really excited to see what the kids will do given the opportunity to expand their talent beyond the stage!

For the parents of 5th graders: We will still be making this an event they can take pride in volunteering for and bringing to life! Details on how this will work will follow as well. Thank you in advance to everyone for embracing the accommodations we will be making to the usual format and making this a unique and fun event for everyone involved!
