Message from Mrs. Rach

Today is Physical Awareness Day at Cushing!  Students will participate in stations to learn about different ways to be active.  Some of these stations include: karate, CrossFit, softball and Field Hockey (just to name a few).  All students will also see the Milwaukee Flyers Tumbling Team perform in our gym!  We couldn’t have organized this day without the help of our community partners who have willingly volunteered their time to help.  A special thanks to our PTO and Mr. Cuda for organizing the day!

Cushing News & Announcements

Medication in Health Room

If your learner has medication in our Health Room, please pick it up on the last day of school.

Check for Ticks

We are seeing an increase in ticks the last couple of weeks.  Please make sure to check your kids when they come home from school. Click HERE for more info on tick bites.

Summer Playground Meet Ups

Mark your calendars!  This summer we’ll be hosting a series of playground meet ups here at Cushing.  The purpose of the meet ups is to provide our families with some time to meet new friends and connect with old friends while playing at our Cushing playground.  This is also an opportunity for our new families to become familiar with the school and get excited about the upcoming school year.

Fifth Grade Farewell Information

Fifth grade parents and families are welcome to attend our Fifth Grade Farewell Ceremony at 9:30 on Wednesday, June 8.  Unfortunately, we do not have capacity for the younger Cushing student siblings.  There is a school-wide "clap out" at 8:45 that the younger students will participate in to say goodbye to the fifth grade students.  After the farewell ceremony, fifth grade students take pictures outdoors with their families, classmates and teachers and leave for the day.  Cushing does ask that younger siblings stay until the end of the day, which is 12:35.

Menu Change - Wednesday, May 25

There is a change to the Hot Lunch options on Wednesday, May 25th.  Sausage Pizza will be the 2nd choice (instead of Pepperoni Pizza).

District Listening Session

May-24-Listening-Session.png

Please join the district May 24 at 7 p.m. in the KMHS for the third in its series of listening sessions. The topic next week will be School Finance 101, which will delve into student enrollment, state policy driving district budgets, taxes, long-term planning and more. A short presentation highlighting the major factors influencing the district will precede an open dialogue amongst all in attendance.

Laser Locker

The Laser Locker (located at KMHS) is open every day after school from now until May 27th.  They have KM gear, patriotic gear, and graduation gifts for any grade - including our Kindergarten graduates!  Hours are posted online.

Looking for a Nanny?

Lauren Windsor is a Kettle Moraine High School student looking for a Cushing family who may be in need of a nanny next school year.  Check out her resume to see how awesome she is.  Please note: she is looking for a school year position rather than a summer position.

Lost & Found

We have a lot of items in our Lost & Found. Remind your child(ren) to stop by and see if anything belongs to them.  Parents are welcome to check it out, too.  Anything left after the end of the school year will be donated.

Kindergarten Welcome Night - Tuesday, May 24

An eVite was sent out to future 5K families this week. Please RSVP so we know how many people will join us for our 5K Welcome Night on Tuesday, May 24 – 5:00-6:00 in the Activity Center.

Not only will new & current families meet teachers, our principal, other Cushing staff, and future classmates...you will also learn about our Kindergarten program and how to help your child be ready for that first day!

PLEASE NOTE: If your kindergartner has older siblings at Cushing, it is appreciated if you and your child still attend. This is an important night for our teachers to get to know your child before school starts. Please call the Cushing Office at 262-646-6700 with any questions.

Staff Gift Giving Program - All Forms Due TODAY, May 20th

Staff Giving LOGO - End of Year.jpeg

The PTO is offering an End of School year Gift Card Program to say "Thank you for a great school year!" to all of our Cushing teachers, staff and bus drivers. Participation is optional.

Here’s how the program works:

You make a monetary contribution to the teacher/staff members and bus driver of your choice. Your child’s gift is then combined with all other contributions for that particular staff member and the staff member will be presented with one BIG gift card to the stores of their choosing. The gift cards will be presented in a Thank You card that contains the names (NOT the amounts!) of all the families who contributed to the gift.

THIS IS A 2 STEP PROCESS:

STEP 1: Please make sure to enter your family name (EXAMPLE: SMITH FAMILY) then select the teachers you'd like to give to and list the dollar amount (MUST be WHOLE dollar increments - no change please, $1, $3, $5, $10, $20, etc.). https://forms.gle/kQwtMiidqDThvsP48

Then total up your order.

STEP 2: Copy this CLASSMUNITY LINK (www.kmsd.edu/staffgivingprogramendofyear2022) to pay your total with a debit/credit card. These orders will be compiled and gift cards will be distributed to each individual.

Any amount is appreciated!

*Program runs until Friday, May 20th*
