Message from Mrs. Rach

This past week we celebrated our teachers and on Sunday families will celebrate mothers!  Mother’s Day is celebrated differently from family to family but the spirit of the day remains the same.  We celebrate those who are special people in our lives, those who see us at our best and our worst.  I hope you find time to honor that person (or people) you call “mom” over the coming days.  My best wishes to all for a Happy Mother’s Day.

Student-Led Progress Update Feedback

Thank you for attending our first student-led progress updates!  Spring is a great time for students to share their progress throughout the year with their families and we appreciate your participation!

We’re also appreciative of the feedback from our parents and students about these conferences as it helps us to learn and grow each year.  A few highlights from the survey includes:

  • Over 91% of parents responding  found the information presented by their learner(s) to be relevant and informative.
  • Over 78% of parents responding liked the structure of the learner-led progress updates.
  • Less than 17% of parents responding left with questions about their learner’s progress this year.

A few highlights from Cushing students (2nd - 5th grade) include:

  • Almost 90% of students shared that they enjoyed sharing successes of the year with their grown up.
  • 90% of students shared that they felt prepared for these conferences.
  • 87% of students shared that they could easily think of a goal they are working toward at this point in the year.

Kindergarten Welcome Night - Tuesday, May 24

An eVite was sent out to future 5K families this week. Please RSVP so we know how many people will join us for our 5K Welcome Night on Tuesday, May 24 – 5:00-6:00 in the Activity Center.

Not only will new & current families meet teachers, our principal, other Cushing staff, and future classmates...you will also learn about our Kindergarten program and how to help your child be ready for that first day!

Staff Gift Giving Program

Staff Giving LOGO - End of Year.jpeg

The PTO is offering an End of School year Gift Card Program to say "Thank you for a great school year!" to all of our Cushing teachers, staff and bus drivers. Participation is optional.

Here’s how the program works:

You make a monetary contribution to the teacher/staff members and bus driver of your choice. Your child’s gift is then combined with all other contributions for that particular staff member and the staff member will be presented with one BIG gift card to the stores of their choosing. The gift cards will be presented in a Thank You card that contains the names (NOT the amounts!) of all the families who contributed to the gift.

THIS IS A 2 STEP PROCESS:

STEP 1: Please make sure to enter your family name (EXAMPLE: SMITH FAMILY) then select the teachers you'd like to give to and list the dollar amount (MUST be WHOLE dollar increments - no change please, $1, $3, $5, $10, $20, etc.). https://forms.gle/kQwtMiidqDThvsP48

Then total up your order.

STEP 2: Copy this CLASSMUNITY LINK (www.kmsd.edu/staffgivingprogramendofyear2022) to pay your total with a debit/credit card. These orders will be compiled and gift cards will be distributed to each individual.

Any amount is appreciated!

*Program runs until Friday, May 20th*
