Message from Mrs. Rach

The year might be coming to a close, but we’ve been hard at work here at Cushing!  This week our 5K students showcased their efforts with a special grown up by performing a concert they spent a lot of time preparing for.  Our second grade students put their final touches on their business proposal and shared them with our school community through an expo.  First graders took a walking field trip to the Delafield Public Library to get some summer reading books.  Third grade students will be hosting a “State Fair” later this afternoon while our older students continue working on their Revolutionary War projects!  Fifth graders also had a great time at our all district track meet.

Thinking ahead to next year, I wanted to share a few items that we’ve been working on. Teams have looked at student, parent, and staff surveys as well as considered conversations with a variety of stakeholders to help inform us of these topics.

  • School/family community building opportunities
  • Through opportunities like summer playground meetups, garden help and beginning of the year celebrations, I am happy to be working with our PTO to organize and host fun events for our families and looking forward to offering more opportunities next year.
  • Feedback / communication plan
  • We are always looking for ways to improve our communication with our families.  This summer our school leadership team will be developing a communication plan for the upcoming year.
  • Classroom representatives and classroom representative coordinator
  • Classroom representatives provide support to the classroom teacher or designated staff member by helping with things like classroom prep, event planning, and design lab.
  • The classroom representative coordinator is a parent volunteer who will work with all room parents and be a  point person for the PTO and myself.

We’re in the early planning stages and will be sharing more details as we work through them as a school team.

**LAST CALL** Lost & Found

We have a lot of items in our Lost & Found. Remind your child(ren) to stop by and see if anything belongs to them.  Parents are welcome to check it out, too.  Anything left after the end of the school year will be donated.

Fifth Grade Farewell Information

Fifth grade parents and families are welcome to attend our Fifth Grade Farewell Ceremony at 9:30 on Wednesday, June 8. Unfortunately, we do not have capacity for the younger Cushing student siblings. There is a school-wide "clap out" at 8:45 that the younger students will participate in to say goodbye to the fifth grade students. After the farewell ceremony, fifth grade students take pictures outdoors with their families, classmates and teachers and leave for the day. Cushing does ask that younger siblings stay until the end of the day, which is 12:35.

Medication in Health Room

If your learner has medication in our Health Room, please pick it up on the last day of school.

Summer Playground Meet Ups

Mark your calendars! This summer we’ll be hosting a series of playground meet ups here at Cushing. The purpose of the meet ups is to provide our families with some time to meet new friends and connect with old friends while playing at our Cushing playground. This is also an opportunity for our new families to become familiar with the school and get excited about the upcoming school year.
