Message from Mrs. Rach
As the year comes to a close, our students are still hard at work in their classes working to finish strong! This week our students had a blast at the Cushing Carnival where they tie dyed t-shirts and made chalk murals! We also were lucky enough to catch some students' Variety Show performances this week. I am so thankful that despite the challenges that the year has posed, we've been able to offer some great experiences for our students. That said, our learners could not have these experiences without you and your support; I am genuinely grateful for the students, staff and families here at Cushing.
Cushing News & Announcements
Next Year’s Classes
We have begun making class placements in draft form for the following school year. It stays in draft form, because as enrollment changes over summer, there may be changes in sections causing class configurations to change. The draft lists are created very carefully with grade level teams, myself, our school counselor, our reading specialist, and specials teachers in order to create the best balance in classrooms. At this point, the following grade level configurations are: 5K - Mrs. Drew and Mrs. Horman, 1st grade - Mrs. Brooks and Mrs. Mokros, 2nd grade - Mrs. Matson, Mrs. Schleuter and Mrs. Tennies, 3rd grade - Mrs. Farrell, Mrs. Finn and Mrs. Gunderson.

Due to our current enrollment, we needed to think differently about the configuration of our 4th and 5th grades. At present, we plan to have two sections of 4th grade, a section of 4/5 split and two sections of 5th grade. Teachers on this team are Mrs. Barwa, Mrs. Bestor, Mrs. Imig, Mrs. Loppnow and Mrs. Sayas. Class placement information will be available in Infinite Campus mid-late August.

Soft Start
Cushing is doing a "Soft Start" again! These soft start days were a big hit with staff, students, and parents and provide a great way to build confidence and a sense of community in classrooms. Students and staff are able to familiarize themselves with school routines, spaces and people. Soft Start days are August 30th, 31st and Sept. 1st; days will be assigned by last name in August. Our first full day of school for all students next year is September 2nd.

Cub Scouts for Next Year’s 5K Students
The Cushing Cub Scout Pack is looking for 4K families who may be interested in joining the pack as your children transition into 5K. Cub Scouts is a fun family activity where scouts learn life skills in a program that emphasizes good moral values. It's also a great place for children and families to make new friends. Cub Scouts will be hosting an informational event in Sept and would love for you to join them to find out what cub scouts is all about. If you are interested in finding out when this event is, you can reach out to Cubmaster Amy Richards and ask to be put on the Lions Info Night email list so that you can receive an email when the event is planned.
