Message from Mrs. Rach
The 2021-2022 school year is in full swing here at Cushing! We have spent our time getting used to our school routines and schedules and are settling in. You might recall that at the start of the year we intentionally focus on strengthening our school and classroom community. I know that for many, as parents, staff, or students, it has been hard to feel connected during the pandemic. That being said, we are excited for the opportunity to welcome volunteers and visitors back at Cushing; volunteer opportunities may range from school-wide to classroom opportunities. We look forward to having the energy and community back in our building that we missed over the last (almost) two years.
Speaking of energy and community, Cushing will be represented in the upcoming KMHS Homecoming parade on Friday, September 24th. Any Cushing student/family is welcome to join the fun. Interested families should plan on lining up at Firemen’s Park (W. South Street) at 4:45. We’ll share more information as the date approaches!

**NEW** Health Room E-mail Address
Our Health Room has a new email address! Please use ce-healthroom@kmsd.edu when you need to email our Health Room staff. Our School Nurse (Becky) and our Health Room Assistant (Susan) are here on different days throughout the week. Having one email address will help keep communication flowing no matter who is working that day. Thanks!
Volunteer Applications
All adults need to fill out a Volunteer Application every school year. These applications are required to volunteer in the classrooms, chaperone field trips, join your learner for lunch, help with PTO-sponsored events (ex: Decathlon volunteers AND spectators), etc. Paper forms are in the Front Office. You can also find the form HERE. Please return completed forms to Mrs. Mirek.
Communication Survey
We are interested in learning about what kinds of feedback our families appreciate as well as communication preferences. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey if you did not complete it at Open House.

Computer Science Survey
Kettle Moraine continues to provide Computer Science to all students. This year we will be using Code.org in grades 5K - 5th to help your child learn key CS concepts and skills. Code.org® is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science in school. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey if you did not complete it at Open House.

Three or Four-Year-Olds Wanted
The Kettle Moraine School District’s Early Childhood Special Education Department is continuing the Preschool Integration Program at Dousman. Through this program we invite general education students to learn alongside students with special education needs. We are looking for 3 and 4 year old peer models to join our Early Childhood Special Education class at Dousman Elementary School for the 2021-2022 school year. This program is at no cost to peer models; however parents would need to provide transportation and complete Kettle Moraine School District enrollment paperwork. Please contact Tricia Anderson at (262) 965-6520, ext. 8701 or andersot@kmsd.edu to set up a visit and complete a brief developmental history. Thank you!
