Message from Mrs. Rach
It’s been a fun week of spirit here at Cushing as we celebrate KMHS homecoming. Our staff and students brought their A-game in terms of dress up days, energy, and school spirit. We’ve been hard at work in the classroom as we dig into what it means to be a reader, writer, mathematician and scholar.  Oftentimes when we ask our child about their day, we get responses like, “fine” and “good”.  Want to know more?  Some questions you might consider asking your learner when you have some downtime (dinner, bedtime, driving in the car home from school…) are:

  • Tell me about the best part of your day.
  • What was the hardest thing you had to do today?
  • Tell me about what you read in class.
  • Can you show/share with me something you learned (or did) today?
Cushing News & Announcements
Homecoming Parade Update
Cushing will not be participating in today’s Homecoming Parade. Families are encouraged to be spectators. Click HERE for the parade route.

Cushing Family Directory
Our PTO is still waiting for more families to submit their contact information for our Cushing Family Directory. If you’ve been putting it off, now is the time to click HERE and do it. :) The directory is used by many families to reach out about play dates, birthday invitations, carpools, etc.

Fun Fact: The sooner more families enter their information, the sooner it will be available.

If you want more information about the Directory, scroll down to the PTO section of this eMessenger.

Front Lobby Morning Drop Offs
Just a friendly reminder that we no longer offer lobby drop offs in the morning. Unless your student is arriving late, please utilize the Car Line (we know the lines are long) or bus options. Thanks for your cooperation.

Headphones
Please ask your learner if their headphones at school are still working. We’re only a few weeks into the school year, but headphones have already started to break/not work. Headphones are used often throughout the day, in multiple classes. A working pair helps both students and teachers. Thanks!

Blessings in a Backpack
Blessings in a Backpack is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 and has partnered with the Kettle Moraine School District this year. Blessings in a Backpack is a program that anyone can take advantage of. Part of their partnership includes sending home discrete bags of food home with children for the full 38 weeks of the school year. Today they will be sending bags of food home with all students. In addition to the bag of food, you will also find an “Opt Out” form. If you DO NOT want to participate in this program, please complete the form and have your child return it to school.

Veteran’s Day
Veteran's Day is a time we remember and honor the men and women of our Armed Services. The staff and students at Cushing would like to honor current and past service members for Veteran's day. If you or a family member is/was a member of any service branch and would like to participate in an Veteran's Day event at Cushing please complete this form.

Order School Pictures
Empire Photography has sent emails to order school pictures if your student had their picture taken during the Soft Start Days. If you didn’t receive an email, either a) they don't have your address on file, b) the message went into your spam folder or c) you did receive the message but just missed it in your inbox. All of these things do happen occasionally. If you haven't received an email or if you have any questions, please email Empire Photography at customerservice@empirephotos.com or call at 608-257-2941 between 8:30 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday.
