This is a busy weekend for us, and it is because of you all! We call it Customer Appreciation Days, which occurs this Friday and Saturday. We try to get everything cleaned up, fully stocked, and ready for our special guests, even have some free snacks and ice cream. But most of all, it is just a good time to get spring in gear and take care of the spring fever issue. Plants are a great tonic for spring fever!

Janel and I, along with all the staff, welcome you to stop by because you’re the reason we can celebrate our 22nd anniversary!

We wish you a blessed day!

This Week's Highlights

Azaleas

Azaleas are coming into bloom. They make great foundation plants for semi-shade. Do you want red, pink, orange, white, or purple or reblooming? Prices range from $44 to $67.

Balcony Chairs

Everyone is looking for an easy to get out of chair. These chairs are perfect. Plus, stainless steel hardware makes them last for many years in the weather. We have several styles $466-$603. Optional insert table $149.

Summer Flowers

Have you ever seen a dinner plate dahlia? Or Gladiolus? They are epic summer bloomers. The tubers should be planted soon. If you want a challenge, you can dig up the tubers this fall for next year. Prices are $5.99-$9.99.

Now's the Time to Recognize Winter Damage

Over the past few weeks, we met people worried about their shrubs. Whether your cherry laurel is dropping its leaves or your cryptomeria is brown, here are a few things to remember.

What causes winter damage? Typically, three factors could be involved: cold, wind, and drought. Cold weather freezes buds, leaves, and stems of less hardy varieties. Wind and drought cause plants to dehydrate in the middle of the winter when they are already vulnerable to cold. This combination is tough on broad-leaf evergreens such as hollies, laurels, and osmanthus.

Will my plant come back? Check and see by scratching a small section of bark off the trunk or a main branch. If the exposed area is green, there is hope; if it is brown, it is likely dead. But time will tell the result with certainty. Wait until the first or second week of May, and if there is no new growth, your tree is undoubtedly gone. The good news is that if you bought the success kit with your trees and shrubs, they come with a 3-year warranty.
