Did you know that Spring Cleaning dates back to more than 3000 years B.C.?
Springs continues to be a popular time to clean the inside and outside of homes as well as commercial buildings. The commercial and residential cleaning experts at Sunshine stand ready to tackle the toughest cleaning jobs no matter what time of year it is. Whether you are a homeowner or business owner, what is on your cleaning checklist? Here are just some of many things that we can help scratch off your list!
Our proprietary Hygienic Clean™ service is a treatment that disinfects, sanitizes and deodorizes high touch areas and surfaces, such as carpets, walls, bathroom fixtures, furniture, fabrics, food contact areas, HVAC systems, playrooms, locker rooms, and more. “We work hard at Sunshine Cleaning Systems to hire skilled employees who can do the job and are aligned with our family culture. The right team members are critical, but safety is our number one priority. At every level and for every job, no matter how large or small, we make sure each task is performed safely and in safe environments,” wrote Mike Woodson, Director of Sales/Quality Control/Assurance and Sheldon Otto, Quality Control Manager & Sales in a recent Sunshine blog.

OSHA Certified, Mike has nearly 40 years of managerial experience, with the past 20 years focused in business development and quality control assurance in the janitorial industry. He began his career at Winn Dixie, quickly moving from store manager to upper management roles. His background includes forecasting, P&L management, cost / price estimating, team building and customer service.

He joined Sunshine in 2017 and today is responsible for sales, quality control/assurance, safety and training. His mantra is that a safe workplace provides better customer service and a better customer experience, as well as a higher employee morale and longevity.

He is married to Patricia and has two stepchildren, Jerry, a graduate of the University of Central Florida and Danielle, who is studying nursing. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, fishing, cooking, wood-working and home remodeling projects.
Welcome to a new member of the Sunshine team! Sheldon Otto, who was born and raised in Durban, South Africa, recently joined Sunshine (December 2020). Sheldon lived in Australia for 15 years, where he held a management position in the iron ore mining industry, overseeing the marine supply division and safety. He brings to Sunshine an extensive background in management, supply and fleet maintenance, quality control and safety. Sheldon prides himself on being a team player and always willing to jump in and help his teammates. Also licensed in real estate and holding prior sales positions, he has sales experience as well.
At Sunshine, he focuses on quality control at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and surrounding municipalities in Broward County. He also supports regional sales and is currently updating the company health and safety standards and training manual.

A fun fact about Sheldon is that he traveled extensively in his early years, once managing an exclusive surf resort in the Mentawai Islands, Indonesia. He and his wife, Erin (they were married last October), live in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea near Fort Lauderdale. In Sheldon’s spare time, he enjoys surfing, kiteboarding, spearfishing, cooking and traveling with his wife.
Congratulations Paul and Jesse!
Congratulations to Paul Lewis and Jesse Williams, the Fort Lauderdale window cleaning crew who continue to show excellence in customer service, dedication to clean windows and longevity at Sunshine. Paul and Jesse are brothers and have worked at Sunshine for 37 and 26 years respectively (Paul joined Sunshine in 1984 and Jesse in 1995).

Erin Calufetti, Director of Window Cleaning, describes their value to Sunshine and its customers:
“After a slower start of the season due to COVID, Paul and Jesse worked really hard this winter and spring, as we saw an uptick in residential window cleaning calls. I constantly receive compliments from clients about how professional, friendly and trustworthy both Paul and Jesse are. Many of South Florida’s most well-known residents trust us to take care of their properties.
“For example, we recently cleaned the windows at the residence of the Chairman of the Board for one of America’s largest privately held companies. The company has been a customer for more than two decades. The brothers received rave reviews and compliments from the home owner and property manager. Paul and Jesse are like family here at Sunshine. They are an integral part of the window cleaning division and we are so happy to have them as part of the team.”
