Cybersecurity Awareness Month is observed every October to promote online safety, cyber hygiene, and digital resilience.

At Shelton State Community College, cybersecurity is everyone's responsibility. As cyber threats continue to evolve, from phishing emails and social engineering to compromised passwords and vulnerable systems, protecting our digital environment starts with each of us making smart, safe decisions online in our everyday actions.

Our message is simple: "Don't Make It Easy for Them!"

While we cannot eliminate every cybersecurity threat, we can significantly reduce our risks by practicing good security habits, recognizing suspicious activity, protecting our credentials, and reporting potential threats.

Remember these simple cybersecurity tips:

  • Think Before You Click: Be cautious of suspicious emails, links, and attachments.
  • Use Strong Passwords: Create unique passwords and enable multifactor authentication (MFA).
  • Protect Your Information: Never share passwords or sensitive personal information.
  • Stay Alert: Report suspicious emails or cybersecurity concerns to Information Technology Services (ITS).

Remember, cybersecurity is not just an IT responsibility; it's a shared responsibility. Let's stay alert, think before we click, and work together to protect our campus and network digital environment.
