Before You Go.
  1. Update your mobile software- Keep your operating system software and apps updated will improve your devices ability to defend against malware.
  2. Back up your information- Back up your contacts, photos, videos and other data with another device or cloud service.
  3. Be cautious of new apps- Review an apps privacy policy and understand what data it can access on your device before you download.
  4. Keep it locked- Get into the habit of locking your device when you're not using it. Use strong PINS and passwords.

While You Are There.
  1. Stop auto connecting- Disable remote connectivity and Bluetooth. Some devices will automatically seek and connect to available wireless networks.
  2. Think before you connect- Before connecting to a public wireless hotspot like on an airplane, hotel, or cafe- be sure to confirm the name of the network and exact login. Do not use online banking or shopping when using a public wireless.
  3. Minimize location sharing- While its common to update your social networking sites with pictures and posts of your travels, it creates a security threat at home.
  4. Guard your mobile device- Never leave your mobile devices-including any USB or external storage devices unattended in a public space.
