The Kentucky Department of Homeland Security has received reports that unknown cyber threat actors are sending phishing emails from a Kentucky emergency responder organization. Click on the link below to learn more.

State opioid grant deadline is today

The application period for the 2025 round of grant funding focused on efforts related to substance use recovery from the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission closes today, Friday, Jan. 17, 2025 at 6 p.m. ET.


Counties are eligible to apply for funding focused on prevention, treatment or recovery.

KACo data brief: County inmates in Kentucky

State law requires fiscal courts to provide for the incarceration of prisoners arrested in the county, sentenced or held by order of the courts in the county. 


Since 2022, the county inmate population has remained relatively stable. As of Jan. 9, 2025, there were 9,936 inmates in Kentucky county jails.

Two-thirds of Kentucky counties are now StormReady certified

More Kentucky counties are meeting a national weather preparedness standard to keep the communities and residents safe when severe weather strikes.


This month, Madison County achieved StormReady certification from the National Weather Service joining 80 counties across the state to participate in the program.
