Friends of CASA,

For the second time, I have chosen to ride my bike 588 miles from the Courthouse in Santa Barbara to the Capitol Building in Sacramento to raise awareness for CASA. Along the route, I'll be stopping at 11 different CASA programs throughout California.

At CASA of Santa Barbara County, each member of the CASA team is invested in our mission—to assure a safe, permanent, nurturing home for every abused and/or neglected child by providing a highly trained volunteer to advocate for them in the court system.
One of my favorite moments working for CASA happened in the courtroom while training a brand new class of volunteers. A 14-year old girl stood up in the courtroom, pulled out a piece of paper with a speech on it, and personally thanked the judge and the CASA volunteer for changing her life. I always try to remember that moment.
I am committed to riding my bike 588 miles because I know the difference a CASA volunteer can make for a child who has experienced abuse or neglect.
