Cynoglossum grande, or Hound’s tongue, is now called Adelinia grandis,

The name Cynoglossum ostensibly referred to the shape and rough texture of the plant’s basal leaves: Greek for dog (kynos) and tongue (glossa).

Through molecular phylogenetic analysis (evaluating evolutionary relationships between organisms by comparing DNA sequences), Dr. James Cohen determined that some species of Cynoglossum belong to different evolutionary lineages. He proposed moving some Cynoglossum species to different genera, and named the genus Adelinia after his daughter Adeline.
