Cynthia Coffman introduces gubernatorial campaign team
DENVER (March 19)
As GOP county assemblies are underway, and in advance of next month’s Republican state assembly, Colorado Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Coffman has introduced her campaign team.
"I could not be prouder of the talented team we’ve assembled," Coffman said. "This is a campaign of individuals who have broad experience executing winning campaigns in Colorado and beyond. They each have a passion for my platform and the drive to make Colorado a better place."
Coffman participated in the precinct caucuses and just finished a robust weekend tour of Western Slope county assemblies.
"Each day I’m on the road, I hear from more and more voters that Colorado is ready for a change, and I’m ready to make a difference," Coffman said. "With this team behind me, I'm going to deliver for the people of Colorado."

L. Roger Hutson, Campaign Chairman
Roger is the President/CEO of HRM Resources III, LLC, a private firm specializing in the acquisition, operation and development of producing oil and gas assets headquartered in Denver, Colorado. In March of 2004, Mr. Hutson was appointed by Gov. Bill Owens to the Colorado School of Mines Board of Trustees and was re-appointed in January 2009 by Gov. Bill Ritter. During his dual terms of service, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees as well as the Chairman of the Finance and Audit Committee. Mr. Hutson is also the past President of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Oil and Gas Association, and currently serves as an active member of the board. In 2011, Gov. John Hickenlooper appointed Mr. Hutson to the Colorado Limited Gaming Commission which oversees Colorado’s casino operations, and he presently acts as the Chairman of the Commission.
Tyler Deaton, Senior Strategist
Tyler is president of a Republican fundraising and public affairs firm focused on helping clients achieve a freer, safer, and stronger world. Tyler specializes in Republican campaigns for a variety of issues and candidates, notably leading the recent effort to include death tax repeal and reform in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.
Elaine Brofford, Coalitions Director & Volunteer Coordinator
Elaine is a management consultant and a long-time Republican activist. Her guidance was a key component of Cynthia’s 2014 attorney general campaign primary victory at the Colorado State Republican Assembly, where Cynthia secured the support of 69 percent of the delegates.
Kayla English, Campaign Assistant
Kayla assists with logistics, advance work, transportation, and other organizational needs for the campaign. A Colorado native, Kayla interned in the General Assembly for Colorado Rep. Perry Buck and has gained extensive political experience volunteering as a canvasser and caucus coordinator.
Keeley Hanlon, Political Advisor
Keeley is a director at a political and public affairs consulting firm that focuses exclusively on Republican and conservative engagement on a range of issues. Previously, she spent four years and three election cycles on the political team at the National Federation of Independent Business, the nation's largest small-business advocacy organization, and went on to manage U.S. field operations at the ONE Campaign. She has overseen multimillion-dollar independent expenditure campaigns in support of Republican candidates in several U.S. Senate and House races and managed effective issue-advocacy campaigns on a range of issues.
Heidi Heltzel, Policy Advisor
As the campaign’s policy advisor, Heidi provides strategic guidance on the campaign’s issue platform and other policy communication. As co-founder and former Executive Director of the American Transplant Foundation, she led the organization by launching educational and outreach programs, directing fundraising efforts, and coordinating collaborative efforts with organizations throughout the community. Previously, Heidi was Vice President of Governmental Affairs at the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry (CACI), the State Chamber of Commerce, where her policy work touched on a broad range of legislative and regulatory aspects of business operations, including tax, technology, environment, and education. She also served as a policy analyst at the Office of the Legislative Council, the nonpartisan research arm of the Colorado General Assembly.
Heidi is an appointed member of the U.S. Dept. of Commerce's Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, which is the nation’s highest honor, and a presidential award, for organizational innovation and performance excellence.
Roger D. Hudson, Chief of Communications
- Roger D. Hudson is the principal media consultant, political strategist, and legislative advocate for both The Hudson Firm, LLC and THE LOBBY, LLC. With more than 25 years as an award-winning journalist, Hudson has managed major market newsrooms in San Francisco, Sacramento, and Houston. As a Republican campaign strategist, Roger was chief of communications for Bob Beauprez’s gubernatorial primary win in 2014. He has also acted as spokesperson for the Colorado Republican Party in 2017. He has also acted as the chief of communications for high profile state agencies the Colorado Department of Corrections and the Department of Law under Attorney General Cynthia H. Coffman.
Shannon Kopp, Campaign Coordinator
Shannon has more than a decade of experience as a strategic development and fundraising professional. Her most recent experience was serving as the Director of Special Initiatives at the Ware Family Office. She also previously served as the National Finance Director for Jane Norton for Senate (2010) which raised $3.2 million. She served as a senior Finance Director for McCain—Palin /RNC in 2007-2008 where she managed a seven-million-dollar fundraising and related operations budget. Prior to the Presidential campaign, Shannon served on Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s finance team during his successful re-election in California in 2006. Her nonprofit leadership also has included executive philanthropic and national nonprofit roles in addition to board service on the Arizona Audubon Society and Harper Family Enterprise.
Erica Shields, State Assembly Coordinator
Erica is coordinating the campaign’s state assembly effort, ensuring that Cynthia has a strong and visible presence. Erica has worked as a professional public health educator for more than 30 years and is currently a private business owner specializing in health and wellness for women and seniors. She was recently elected a Jefferson County delegate and re-elected precinct captain. She works tirelessly with the Jeffco GOP to support conservative candidates in the county and throughout the state. She is a 2018 class member of the Leadership Program of the Rockies and a board member for the Liberty Day Institute, where she works to provide non-partisan civic educational opportunities for fifth graders. She is an active Rotarian engaged in providing leadership opportunities for high school students. She is passionate about serving our nation's veterans, both past and present, and is a member of the Wreaths Across America steering committee. She is an ambassador to agencies serving our active-duty servicemen and women, veterans and Gold Star families, homeless vets and families in transition and advocate for victims of child abuse, and neglect, and human trafficking.
David Tschetter, Senior Political Consultant
David is managing Cynthia’s caucus and assembly strategy, ensuring her message is delivered to the grassroots in all four corners of Colorado. A Colorado native and CEO of the real estate company Qwizzle, David was the chairman of Mike Kopp’s gubernatorial campaign in 2014 when Kopp was victorious at the state GOP assembly, and he oversaw the successful effort to elect Vera Ortegon for Colorado Republican National Committeewoman in 2016. David brings decades of Colorado political experience, particularly around navigating the caucus and assembly process, to the campaign.
Caroline Wren, Finance Director
Caroline has worked in fundraising for political organizations, candidates, issue-based organizations and nonprofit groups for more than 10 years. She served as the Finance Director for the Cleveland 2016 Host Committee which was responsible for raising the $64,000,000 needed to put on the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland. Previously, Caroline served as Senator Lindsey Graham’s Finance Director for his 2014 Senate reelection campaign. Prior to that, she was at Holloway Consulting. She has previously worked on the finance teams of former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman and U.S. Senator John McCain’s presidential campaigns. Caroline also served as the Associate Director of Major Donors for GOPAC. Caroline resides in Denver, CO.
