WELCOME BACK & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This is a shortened Community Brief as we only had a three-day school week to open 2017. However, last week we did kick off both the third quarter and second semester of 2016-2017. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season with friends and family and that your New Year is off to a fantastic start.

Normally at the start of the month we will run down a list of scholarship opportunities with near-term deadlines. You will find these in this issue. Please take careful note of the application due dates and check with Guidance should you have any questions.

I was very pleased to see everyone back last week. Stay warm today and have a terrific week!

In Bear Pride,

Dr. W. John McHale
Principal
Cypress Creek High School

OCPS Sportsmanship Award - Krystal Garcia (Soccer)
The OCPS Sportsmanship Award is a very special recognition given by one high school to another high school based on the sportsmanship of a particular student-athlete. West Orange High School recently gave this award to Krystal Garcia, CCHS soccer team goal keeper (#00) for her passion and overall sportsmanship. The high schools only have a small, fixed quantity of these to give away across all sports venues during the school year, so this is indeed quite a recognition. Bravo Krystal!

Teacher Recognition
Mr. Jesus Marin, 3-D Art Teacher

Mr. Marin was one of just a few teachers recently selected by OCPS as one of the district's 'Stellar Teachers.' We are very proud of Mr. Marin's county-wide recognition. He is the first teacher featured on the short video below.
