DEBTORS ANONYMOUS

GSB Contribution Request

“We will recognize that there is enough; our resources will be generous

and we will share them with others and with D.A." - Promise 7

First, we want to thank every member who contributes—your support keeps our fellowship available to the debtor who still suffers. As you may know, 7th Tradition contributions at D.A. meetings diminished significantly when all meetings went virtual during the pandemic. While some in-person meetings have returned, 78% of all D.A. meetings are currently held virtually. Because of this reduced revenue, D.A. is not able to fully fund our literature translation projects, publish as much new literature as we would like, or perform other membership services.

Some suggestions about ways meetings

can increase contributions:

1. Make it Easy to Donate:

  • Offer multiple digital payment options: Provide access to various digital payment platforms, considering ease of use and potential fees.
  • Share contribution instructions clearly and prominently: Post links to contribution options in the chat window during meetings, or on your group's website or online resources.
  • Ensure online contribution processes are simple and streamlined.
  • Consider opening a bank account if you don’t have one, to make it easier to receive contributions.
  • Consider pausing your meeting to allow members time to make a contribution.

2. Focus on our 7th Tradition

  • Emphasize the importance of the 7th Tradition: Remind members that self-support through our own contributions is essential for the group's continued existence.
  • Let members know how contributions are used beyond platform costs: Share about the projects at the World Service level that are made possible by member contributions, such as literature translation, literature development, public outreach, etc.
  • Use our literature. Read aloud the 7th Tradition chapter in “12 Steps, 12 Traditions and 12 Concepts”. Consider ways to acknowledge contributions. Express gratitude for contributions.

3. Consider Additional Strategies:

  • Explore recurring contribution options: Encourage members to set up automatic contributions to provide a more stable revenue stream. Consider creating a QR code.
  • Consider setting fundraising goals.

Please consider making an extra contribution to your Group, or to D.A. GSB, to help D.A. meet our Income and Spending Plan to provide services for our members’ needs and for the debtor who still suffers around the world.

Contributions of any and all amounts make a difference.
