The City of Dunwoody is working with BerryDunn, a national consulting firm, to conduct a comprehensive operational assessment of the Dunwoody Police Department. This independent assessment requires a thorough review of information from both internal and external sources. Accordingly, the City, in collaboration with BerryDunn, seeks community perspectives on how the Police Department performs its public safety function in serving Dunwoody residents and visitors. Pet lovers: These Nov. 12 classes are for you!
Learn to professionally photograph your own dog using either a DSLR (digital single-lens reflex camera, preferred) or smartphone in this class scheduled Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon. The class is taught by Theresa Van Staden of Jelly Beans Photography. Participants need to be able to get up and down from the ground with their pets. You must provide your own DSLR camera or smartphone camera. The class will meet in the large field behind the Great Lawn Pavilion in Brook Run. You can park in the gravel parking lot near the community garden. $50. Ages 12+.
Would you know what to do in case of a pet emergency? Get prepared with the new Pet Safety Class for dogs and cats. During this 5-hour class, you will learn about CPR and rescue breathing, bleeding and shock treatment, insect bites and stings, and much more. The class is held on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the N. Shallowford Annex from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Open to all ages, $95.

The next Paint Like Bob Ross class is Nov. 17 at the Brook Run Park Barn (across from the skate park) from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Bob Ross-Certified Instructor Jeremy Rogers walks you through the steps for painting a winter scape. Learn new Bob Ross techniques, like how to add shimmering waves with a palette knife, and receive tons of practice with the liner brush used for small details. This is a light-hearted painting class totally focused on creating beauty and having fun! Only Bob Ross supplies are used to give you an authentic experience. $65 for ages 13+. History Alive

In celebration of the 125th anniversary of Marist School in 2026, Dunwoody Preservation Trust's Nov. 19 History Alive will be "A History of Marist School in 125 Objects," presented by school archivists Dr. Michael Bieze, Ph.D. Fine Arts Department Chair and Marist teacher Louisa Moffitt.
As an historical account, this presentation will be a story told by many voices expressing the complex nature of one school. Those voices include Marist priests, former and current administrators, former and current teachers, staff, former and current students, and parents. The story is contextualized within the broader history of Atlanta.

Sponsored by Dunwoody Preservation Trust, Board Game Night will be held Saturday Nov. 19 from 5 - 10 p.m. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. The event will be held at the N. Shallowford Rd Annex (4470 N. Shallowford Rd.). The event is free to the public, although donations are appreciated. Participants should bring games that they want to play and are comfortable letting other people play. Bottled water and snack food are welcome. No adult beverages or full meals allowed. All patrons must sign in upon entering the facility and accept all policies and rules.

Fall Family Backyard Campout

Bring your family to an outdoor sleepover at the Dunwoody Nature Center. This night under the stars includes an educator-led night hike and a fire in the outdoor fireplace. Bring your tent and sleeping bag, and don't forget the s'mores. This is a great camping option for families and beginners.

Forest Bathing

This three-hour long walk in the woods won't take you far in distance but it will take you far on the journey to connecting with yourself and with nature. Certified Forest Therapy Guide Robin Hancock creates a relaxing environment while inviting you to participate in various reflection exercises. Forest Bathing is a practice of mindfulness and self-care, both of which are increasingly important as we enter into the bustle of the holiday season.

Spruill Center for the Arts teen artists have a NEW four-week course option before 2023 rolls around: Photography – Express Yourself with Self-Portraits.
Teens will tap into their imagination with some “out-of-the-box” ideas and creative mixed media to create a mini-portfolio of self-portraits. They’ll learn many pro techniques that will amp up their selfie game and beyond. Register here

GDOT's Transform 285/400 project will implement two weekend closures (weather permitting) beginning tonight, Friday, Nov. 11 at 9 p.m. and ending Monday, Nov. 14 at 5 a.m.
- Motorists traveling from SR 400 southbound to Hammond Drive should exit early on Exit 5 Abernathy Road and follow Mercedes-Benz Drive/Barfield Road south to Hammond Drive.
- Motorists traveling on I-285 westbound to Ashford Dunwoody Road should use Exit 28 Peachtree Dunwoody Road and Lake Hearn Drive (road changes to Perimeter Center Parkway) to access Ashford Dunwoody Road. See map.

The All Saints conference of St. Vincent de Paul will host its annual Fall Clothing Drive this weekend at All Saints Catholic Church. Dunwoody residents are invited to help by donating seasonally appropriate fall/winter clothing Saturday or Sunday, Nov. 12 or 13 (Saturday, 2 - 6:30 p.m.; Sunday, 8 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Clothing collected will replenish the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store. Items in high demand include sweaters, sweatshirts, pants, jeans, t-shirts, jackets, and shoes. Another opportunity to help is by donating a new pair of men’s, women’s, or children’s socks or underwear.

The Dunwoody North Driving Club invites all members of the community to enjoy its first Trolley Holidays Light Tour through the Dunwoody North neighborhood on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 6 - 11 p.m.
Approximately 35 minutes long, tours will depart from the Dunwoody North Driving Club parking lot every 45 minutes. Hot chocolate, cookies and more will be available in the Clubhouse where you can mix and mingle. The trolley can accommodate 25 people.
Tickets are $12 each, but increase to $15 after Dec. 6. Group discounts for four or more tickets are available. Learn more

Make the holidays special for a child in need in our community through Community Assistance Center’s Holiday Adopt-a-Family Program.
Individuals, groups, congregations, and corporations are encouraged to participate. During November and December, you can make a difference by selecting a family on CAC’s online portal, shopping for gifts for the kids, and delivering them to CAC for distribution.
In 2021, donors provided gifts for more than 1,500 children from hundreds of local households, with the average amount spent per child numbering in the $75-$100 range.
