Major William "Rusty" Furman


The City of Dunwoody and the Dunwoody Police Department mourn the passing of Major William “Rusty” Furman after a long and courageous battle with cancer.


Major Furman was one of the original members of the Dunwoody Police Department.


“Major Furman was an exceptional leader, a devoted public servant, and a deeply respected member of our department family. He fought his illness with the same courage he showed every day in uniform, and he will never be forgotten,” said Chief Mike Carlson.

Native Plants

Thursday, March 19 | 6 - 7 p.m.


The Dunwoody Sustainability Committee will host a free discussion of the benefits of using native plants as part of its Green Speak series on Thursday, March 19. Held in the North Woods Pavilion at the Dunwoody Nature Center, the discussion will be led by speakers Michael Cowan, Board Chair of the Georgia Native Plant Society; Luanne Heslin, Master Naturalist; and Steve Sanchez, Landscape Architect and Principal at HGOR.

Village Crossing Open House

All are invited to attend a Public Information Open House on March 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Vintage Pizzeria regarding plans for the Village Crossing Project, a long‑term investment in mobility and streetscape improvements in the heart of Dunwoody.


The 0.8‑mile project along Chamblee Dunwoody Road, stretching from Womack Road/Ashford Center Parkway to Roberts Drive, aims to create a safer, more walkable, and bike‑friendly corridor with upgraded streetscape elements and operational improvements.

Womack Sidewalk Project

Share feedback through March 13


The Womack Road Sidewalk Project proposes a 6-foot-wide sidewalk along Womack Road from Cambridge Drive to Vermack Road to complete the last remaining sidewalk gap on Womack Road.

This project will increase pedestrian safety and accessibility, especially for students and families walking to nearby schools. Learn more and provide feedback

Parks and Recreation

Special Pops Tennis returns March 10 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Windwood Hollow Park. Special Pops Tennis strives to teach tennis to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Athletes will learn all seven tennis strokes, play matches, and participate in fun group games.


Volunteers are needed to feed shots, pick up balls, and accompany athletes throughout practice. This program is offered FREE of charge. You can join at any time, even if the session has already started.

Adult Clay Class: Make your own leaf plate!

Create your own leaf plate inspired by the shapes and textures you find in nature. In this clay workshop, Lilly Vicens of Tulip Tree Tales (a pottery studio based in Suwanee) will show you how to press real leaves into stoneware clay. From there, you’ll shape your plate, add details, and use brush-on glazes to bring out the beautiful textures. Each piece will be kiln-fired at Tulip Tree Tales pottery studio and ready for pickup at Dunwoody Nature Center in about two weeks. Your finished plate can be used as a small dish or a decorative piece, and makes for a great handmade gift. Learn more and register here

Free First Saturday: Decomposers, Nature’s Recyclers

This is a family-friendly exploration of the incredible organisms that break down waste and recycle nutrients back into our ecosystem. We’ll dig into the world of fungi, worms, beetles, millipedes, and other creepy-crawly decomposers, discovering their unique adaptations and why life on Earth simply couldn’t exist without them. The free, hands-on program includes an interactive introduction, up-close observation of live decomposers, and a short outdoor exploration to hunt for them in their natural habitat. Career Expo



The Greater Perimeter Chamber and Community Assistance Center are co-sponsors of a Career Expo on March 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s a free event that will bring together jobseekers and companies from across the Atlanta Perimeter for in-person conversations, relationship-building, and hiring opportunities.


While walk-ins are welcome, jobseekers are encouraged to register in advance using this link. Companies interested in participating can apply at the same link.

Food Drive

March 14 and 15


All Saints Church will be collecting for its annual St. Vincent de Paul Food Drive on Saturday, March 14, from 3 - 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 15, from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 - 6 p.m. Your contributions benefit Dunwoody neighbors in need by replenishing the SVdP Food Pantry, which serves Dunwoody and DeKalb County.


Demand is high for non-perishable food items, as the food pantry has been busy serving more clients than ever. Drop-off donations in the lower parking lot behind the gym.

Little Women on the DHS stage


Dunwoody High School's Wildcat Theater will open the Spring production of "Little Women" on its newly renovated stage on March 6. The community is invited. Shows are March 6 - 8 and March 13 - 15.


Renovations at the DHS auditorium include new stage lighting and sound equipment, among other upgrades.

The Dunwoody Fine Art Association's next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 4, at 9:30 a.m. at the North Shallowford Annex at 4470 North Shallowford Rd.  


The presenter will be Tracey Burnette, owner of Around Bank at Rocky’s Folk Art Gallery in Dawsonville. A retired elementary school art teacher, she now represents 250 folk artists from around the southeast. The meeting is free and open to the public.
