Central Ohio's Largest Irish-American Women's Organization
"American by birth, Irish by the grace of God!"
Dear Daughters of Erin Members,

Hope you're having a beautiful fall.

We are excited to partner with The O on Lane for a fundraising campaign this fall for the Buckeyes. We will raise $2,000 as part of the partnership.

Save the date, Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1 pm (new meeting time) for the October membership meeting. We are returning in person to St. Christopher in Trinity School. It will be wonderful to see everyone!

Peace,
Chris
CHARITIES UPDATE

The October charity is the Brian Muha Foundation Home. The Brian Muha Foundation/The Run The Race Club has been present since the year 2000 - providing exceptional enrichment and leadership development opportunities to young people in Columbus, Cleveland and Steubenville, Ohio. We give love and hope to children and young people through relationships with dedicated volunteers, mentors and tutors who offer opportunities and activities that allow them to grow academically, physically, spiritually and emotionally. We see the beautiful value and dignity in each and every child and we have made it our mission to help them run the race of life and change the world.

We are collecting PJ's for kids. Any sizes are accepted, however, the greatest need is for older children 10+. They normally prefer a T-shirt or sweatshirt and PJ pants but all donations will be accepted.

The suitcase collection was a big success. We received well over 50+ large suitcases for donation. We also received a lot of socks for our summer charity and those are being distributed to the different homeless shelters around Columbus.

There was a request to collect school supplies, I am happy to coordinate whatever we receive and get them to a needy school this fall.

Thank you for your generosity. Feel free to email me any upcoming charity suggestions you have and we will schedule them out for the year.

I can be reached through email at cherylcostello@yahoo.com or 614-774-8879. Thank you for your donations. You make the charity position much easier by your generosity.

ANNUAL CHARITY & ADOPTED FAMILY NOMINATIONS

Each year, our members submit names of needy families and charities for our annual donations. Nominations are now open.

Do you know of a family in need? Please submit contact information to Chris McKenzie or Cheryl Costello at the October meeting. As always, identities are protected. Information about the families we adopt for Thanksgiving and Christmas will be published in the November newsletter.

Nominate a charity in writing to Cheryl or President Chris McKenzie via e-mail to mckoprs@yahoo.com or mail to P.O. Box 1912, Columbus, OH 43216-1912. Please include contact information for each charity. Nominations must be received by the Board meeting, Wednesday, Oct. 6 for consideration.
KATHI HESS - REMEMBRANCE OF FRIENDS

All are invited, Saturday, October 23, 1-3 pm to remember Kathi Hess at Sycamore Shelter at Blendon Woods.

A private shelter at Blendon Woods has a roof, ample seating (picnic tables), and nearby restrooms. There is limited parking, so if you know someone else who is going, please consider sharing a ride.

This venue was chosen because Kathi enjoyed the outdoors, but also because it is an open-air setting. There is ample space for distancing – mask use is at your discretion. Also, it may be chilly, please dress according to the weather.

If possible, please let Julie McGhee at 614-891-6736 know if you or others plan to attend for a rough estimate of how many people to expect.
2021 QUILT WALL HANGING RAFFLE

We are raffling off an Irish Quilt Wall Hanging this year. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Special thanks for the beautiful, hand-made quilt donated and made by Carolyn Collins. The raffle drawing will be held later this year!

Contact Sharon Tantes to purchase tickets by calling 614-361-8590.
