Dear Daughters of Erin Members,
I'm so excited! Green Season is getting closer! I am really looking forward to all of the traditions we missed last year starting with the Clann na nGael dinner on February 5 then Proclamation Day, our Irish Breakfast and the St. Patrick's Day celebrations. It will be wonderful to honor Debbie Lynch, the 2022 Irish Woman of the Year and Mary Grady Strickland, 2022 Member of the Year as well as Becky Ellis, the 2021 Irish Woman of the Year and Sharon Selby, the 2021 Member of the Year.
With the Covid numbers decreasing, we may feel safe, for an in-person meeting in February. Be sure to read information below about all of our events.

FEBRUARY MEMBERSHIP MEETING
The February meeting will be held at Trinity School, St. Christopher Church, at 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13.
The Fundraising Table will be set up. We'll celebrate the 2022 Irish Woman of the Year and Member of the Year. We'll prepare for the upcoming Green Season events, annual Irish Breakfast, Bowling Extravaganza and more.

IRISH FAMILY REUNION TABLES
If you would like to reserve a table for the Irish Family Reunion on St. Patrick's Day, please contact Sharon Tantes at 614-361-8590. The cost is $150 for 10 tickets. Adult tickets are $15 each and children (age 5-18) are $8 each.

D.O.E. TRADITIONAL IRISH BREAKFAST
Our Irish Breakfast is planned for Sunday, March 13, 10 am-1 pm at the Shamrock Club of Columbus, 60 West Castle Road, Columbus 43207.
Traditional Irish Breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms, porridge, homemade scones, Irish and sweet breads, juice, tea & coffee. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 children.

CALLING ALL BAKERS!
We need soda bread, brown bread, little muffins and rolls (zucchini, banana or fruit breads). If you've never been to the Irish Breakfast, we have delicious breads to go with the hot breakfast. These goodies do NOT have to be homemade. Baked goods can be dropped off the day of the breakfast.

We are selling 2022, 2021 and 2020 Daughters of Erin Badges. All badges are $1 each or you can purchase a bag of 10 or 25 badges.

MEMBERSHIP DUES
Annual membership dues are $10 for Junior members (under 18 years of age) and $20 for Regular members (ages 18-79).
Honorary members, age 80 and over, although you do not have to pay dues, we ask that you still complete a membership form.
Dues can be paid by mailing a check made out to Daughters of Erin (please spell out) to: Peggy McCathran,3012 E. Mound St., Columbus, OH 43209 or call Peggy with questions at 614-235-2969.

FINANCE UPDATE
REMINDER, Financial Secretary Margie Thompson has an important update for checks written to the Daughters of Erin. If you are writing a check, please be sure to spell out the full name Daughters of Erin. The bank will no longer cash checks made out to "DOE" or any shortened name. It's also helpful if you'll write a note in the Memo regarding the payment for your check. Thank you!

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS GROUP & JUNIOR DIVISION
We are exploring a Young Professionals group as well as continuing the Junior Division. If you know new moms, professionals or newly married women, we are planning to host events to encourage membership. Watch for updates this year.
Also, if you know any younger girls, please invite them to join the Daughters of Erin Junior Division.

PRAYER LINE
Please keep our members and those on the prayer list in your thoughts and prayers. Please pray for Jack & Margaret Cahill in your prayers on the loss of their daughter Corey, and for Msgr. John Cody, Jackie McVey, Ryan Graves, Terry McKenzie, Bridgid Shanahan Palmer, Peggy McCathran, Patty Phillips, Mike Klinger, Carol Scheerer and Dell Koch.
May love and unity surround all suffering from COVID, colds and flu - may they be healed. We also pray for all those in the military, police, healthcare workers and our government leaders.

SAINT BRIGID DAY
St. Brigid’s Day - Lá Fhéile Bríde - celebrates Ireland’s only female patron saint on February 1. The day is traditionally associated in Ireland with the coming of spring and renewal. Most people are familiar with the popular tradition of making crosses in St Brigid’s honor. Learn more about St. Brigid’s Day and watch this video to to make a cross. ANNUAL BOWLING EXTRAVAGANZA
The 2022 Bowling Extravaganza at HP Lanes will be 6:30-9:30 pm, Friday, April 29.
