March Board Meeting Review
On March 18, the D102 Board held their regular Board Meeting. After a closed session, the meeting began shortly after 7pm. With approval of the agenda. Public comment was followed by presentations from Assistant Supt. Toni Sibley on next year's school fees and the mid-year financial updates. School fees will remain the same for next year with no increase. The financial picture for the district is relatively flat as we near the last quarter of the fiscal year. More information can be found by clicking on the links in the agenda which can be accessed here. Ms. Sibley presented best case and worst case 5-year projections. The District has continued to grow fund balances over the last several years, but with continued low CPI (Consumer Price Index) we potentially are entering a season of stagnation in our budgets. Continued new money from the federal government should help offset potential decreases in State and Local revenues.

The Board discussed committee and liaison reports from recent meetings with Senator Landeck in regards to our relationship with the TTO (Township Treasurer's Office) to the curriculum department, technology, CEMA meetings, and meetings with the LRC directors to create some exciting options for this summer to engage children in literacy.

There was discussion on moving students from remote to hybrid with clarification that no student or teacher was involuntarily forced to change teachers or positions. The Board President clarified that the Board's expectation and commitment is to full-day in-person instruction for the Fall of 2021.

The Board committed to returning to in-person board meetings beginning with the next Committee of the Whole meeting which will be held on April 8. It will be held in the auditorium. We will be live-streaming that meeting as well, but will likely require public comment to be made in person. That is still TBD.

The board approved extending the Saliva Screening through April 9 at 2X a week, except K-3 will only be once the first week back from break due to the shortened week.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for April 29.

Transportation options are available.  Buses will pick up and drop off from Congress Park, La Grange Community Center, Cossitt School, and Ogden Avenue School. Times will be determined based on ridership.  The cost is $50.  Please purchase at the time of registration.

The Park District of La Grange will again offer BASE as an all-day camp Monday-Friday, or as a Before and After Camp during the five weeks.  Additional information on BASE can be found here.
Kindergarten Registration Information

We are asking parents who have incoming kindergarteners to register by March 30 to determine if District 102 will need to have a lottery for full-day classes at Barnsdale.

We encourage families that may still be deciding about enrollment for next year to register. There is no cost to register. If situations change, you can un-register at any time. However, registering at a later date for kindergarten could impact availability of full-day kindergarten options.

For families that have children in other grade levels, registration will remain open through May 7. While we encourage families to register as soon as they know if they will be attending next year, we want to extend that time for families who need it. The District is committed to opening up full-day in-person in the Fall of 2021.
