Barrington 220 weekly COVID-19 update

Dear Barrington 220 Community: 

As Dr. Harris shared at last week’s Board of Education meeting, Barrington 220 will give families the choice to participate in a Hybrid mode or Distance Learning beginning Tuesday, January 19. The decision was made after receiving new information from public health officials which indicates that it is safe to return to a Hybrid mode if school districts continue to implement these five CDC mitigation strategies with fidelity. 

The transition to Hybrid 2.0 will impact the school calendar as operational transitions are made related to transportation, food service, and staffing. Please note the following key dates: 

  • Dec. 23-Jan. 6: Winter Break 

  • Jan 7 & 8: Distance Learning day for all D220 students to allow for mitigation time recommended after family gatherings and travel over winter break. 

  • Jan. 15: No school for all students as staff prepare for transition to Hybrid 2.0.

  • Jan 19: Hybrid 2.0 begins for all students.

Upcoming Board of Education meetings
The next regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 7pm. As of today this meeting will be held in person at the District Administrative Center. However, the meeting may be held virtually if Tier 3 mitigation requirements are still in effect, limiting the size of public meetings to 10 people or less.
