Dear Barrington 220 Community:
We are now in Week #3 of a successful Hybrid 2.0 implementation. As we have communicated in the past, we are continuously looking at opportunities to bring students back into our buildings more often. In fact, as of this week all Barrington High School juniors and seniors are able to return to school five days a week for the entire school day. The high school and other schools in the district will continue monitoring attendance numbers to pursue additional opportunities in the coming weeks and months to get students back in our buildings more often. In addition, we will continue providing support and focusing on those students who have chosen to continue with full-time Distance Learning.
While we are aware that one of the health metrics (Metric #1 on our coronavirus webpage) continues to exceed our Step 3 (Hybrid) threshold, our public health officials have advised that school districts can safely implement a Hybrid mode, if the following five mitigation strategies are in place.
- Consistent and correct use of masks
- Social distancing to the largest extent possible
- Hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette
- Cleaning and disinfection
- Contact tracing in collaboration with local health department
