Barrington 220 weekly COVID-19 update
March 8, 2021

Dear Barrington 220 Community:

For the past several weeks Health Metric #1(new cases) on our coronavirus webpage has continued to decrease. As of today, the number of new cases (7-day) per 100,000 population is at 58.6 and the number of new cases (14-day) per 100,000 is at 133.6. Based on CDC guidance, the new cases (7-day) will need to improve to less than 50 in order to implement further changes to include a full reopen. In order to reflect this, we have updated the wording on our website for Health Metric #1 and Health Metric #2 to show that we are using the 7-day totals as a measurement.

Once the 7-day total for Health Metric #1 goes below 50, the CDC guidelines allow schools to relax the physical distance expectations and open for full in-person / 5 days a week instruction. It is important to keep in mind the metric will need to remain under that threshold for several days before implementing any changes. Once that happens, we will move forward with the start date for a full reopen. Please note, all families who have chosen to do Distance Learning will remain in Distance Learning.

To continue monitoring our community numbers for Metric #1, visit the Northwestern Medicine Dashboard. Please remember to use the following zip codes: 60010, 60021, 60110 and 60192.
Updated spring break travel information
Spring Break in Barrington 220 is the week of March 22 - March 26. If you are planning to travel, we wanted to share these public health guidelines for domestic and international travel in regards to quarantine procedures. Please note, this guidance changes frequently and may be different over the next couple of weeks. We will update everyone if anything changes.

Any student in grades 6-12 who needs to quarantine due to travel will be able to do concurrent instruction from home, as our secondary teachers are already teaching students in the classroom and students who are at home concurrently (at the same time).

UPDATED ELEMENTARY INFORMATION (3-8-2021): All elementary students who must quarantine due to travel can use sick days, which will be marked as EXCUSED absences. When traveling, students will have access to assignments through SeeSaw or Schoology to work on lessons independently. As we have provided in the past, elementary students who must quarantine upon return to the state, or upon illness or Covid exposure, will be allowed to learn concurrently. If you have any questions, please contact your school office.
