April 23rd - June 15th

How To Play:

The game is TAKEOUT BINGO, try for horizontal, vertical, an ‘X’, or go big with a fully covered board. Let’s support our downtown businesses and we will give you a chance to win Downtown Bucks! Downtown Bucks are gift certificates you can use when
shopping in downtown Morganton. One board per household.

Using health safety practices such as wearing masks, pick up your takeout or receive your food delivery from a local small business, tip the employee, then scan or take a picture of your receipt when you return home.

When you’ve obtained a horizontal row, vertical row, ‘X’, or full board then send a copy or picture of the completed board AND receipts to info@downtownmorganton.com for your name to be entered into the weekly drawings. While no duplicates will be
accepted, a person may submit multiple completed horizontal or vertical rows.

Don’t want to do the board? Just post a photo of you picking up your food or
enjoying your food at home. Tag Downtown Morganton and the place of business on Facebook or Instagram to be entered into the weekly drawings and use the hashtag #MorgantonTakeout

Two More VWTs; we're just gonna keep on planning 'em!

Friday, May 22: Keggers
Our wines on tap are empty so we need to order something new for the shop. We are bringing back the popular Kevin Owings of Winesellers, who introduced us to the fabulous Argentinian wines a few weeks ago. We will taste:

Le Charmel Provence Rosé 2018 (France) -- bright and fresh with lots of raspberry, strawberry, and wildflowers; sourced from the Bandol region, which is the preeminent Rosé growing area in Provence … the quintessential southern French Rosé. $16.99

Santa Julia Cabernet Reserva 2018 (Argentina) -- juicy, blue-fruited, with a touch of vanilla and spice from 10 months in oak. Second-generation family-owned winery, turning out great value wines from organically grown grapes in the high elevation Uco Valley within Mendoza, Argentina (this is the same family that owns the beautiful Zuccardi winery that we learned about a few weeks ago). $12.99

Friday, May 29: Tour of Tuscany
We're comparing a Chianti Classico with a Super Tuscan blend in another red wine showcase…
Badia a Coltibuono Chianti Classico RS 2017 -- a wine estate going back over 800 years and started by monks, they make benchmark Chianti; a great intro to the bright, friendly charm and food-friendliness of Sangiovese. $18.50
Aia Vecchia Lagone Rosso 2017 -- a generations-old grower in Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast, which was ground zero for the Super Tuscan movement of the 1990s; a Bordeaux-inspired blend of international varietals (Merlot, Cabernet, and Cabernet Franc grown in the warmer, coastal area, which gives it a bigger, richer, riper profile. $17.50

We will be joined by Katie Dorazio, regional rep for Dalla Terra, an Italian importer representing great producers throughout Italy.

VWTs via Zoom; we will send the link (no account necessary).

Feel free to have snacks or dinner while we are tasting!

We are continuing to offer 20% off all four bottles. Phone orders and curbside pickup available, 828.438.8400.
