D5 Community News: First Edition

Hi Megan,

As your new Councilwoman, I welcome you to our District 5 newsletter. My goal is to keep you up to date with the news and events happening in our neighborhood, as well as crucial information from our municipal departments and our City Council.

I am honored to serve as your new Councilwoman, and I hope to continue former Councilwoman Mungo Flanigan's legacy of being engaged and responsive to the needs of residents. We hope you will let us know about the issues that matter most in your area and how our team can best serve you moving forward.

As a lifelong resident of Long Beach and District 5, there is nothing more important to me than our community. Having served for eight years on the Long Beach Unified School Board, I have had the honor of getting to know many of you personally, and working closely with our teachers, parents, and neighbors on important issues throughout our City. I look forward to building upon those relationships and the work we have done to make District 5 a thriving and vibrant place for all of us to live.

I am honored to serve as your Councilwoman and look forward to seeing you around the district soon. If you see me, please say hello and introduce yourself.

Sincerely,

Councilwoman Megan Kerr

MLK Day Parade

This weekend, I had the privilege of participating in our city's Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade. I was joined by some amazing community leaders and elected officials in honoring the legacy of Dr. King and the ongoing struggle for civil rights in our country.

I would like to thank Long Beach Special Events & Filming, and all of the organizers who helped to make this wonderful event possible.

Storm Clean-Up

In the aftermath of this weekend's storm, our office has been made aware of the resulting debris and damage to infrastructure and private property across our District. We have reached out to the Public Works Department and will be communicating closely with them over the course of their clean-up efforts.
