Happy Friday, District 5! Labor Day is on Monday and it is a time to honor and commemorate the hardworking contributions of workers and the labor movement advocating for workers' rights, including better wages, working conditions, and hours. This Labor Day weekend, I hope you celebrate safely with your loved ones as we mark the unofficial end of summer!
As a reminder, a number of city services and facilities will be closed on Mon. Sept. 2 in observance of the holiday, including our CD5 office. All City parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center) will be open on Monday and there will be no scheduled street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations on Mon. Sept. 2. Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule on Tues., Sept. 3. Refuse and recycling will be collected as scheduled on Mon. Sept. 2. The City's Press Release has more information and details.
Next Tuesday, Sept. 3rd, we will be having a Council meeting where we will continue to discuss the proposed Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Budget, with presentations from the Economic Development and Health and Human Services departments. We’ll have more updates after the next meeting, but in the meantime, feel free to review all FY25 related materials, and continue to submit digital comment cards, at longbeach.gov/FY25.
