Dear Students, Staff and Parents/Guardians,
The District 86 Parent-Teacher Advisory Committee (PTAC) is a standing committee of the board of education that is composed of students, parents/guardians, faculty, staff, administrators and board members. The group’s charge is directed by board policy and the Illinois School Code, and has traditionally been focused on issues such as student conduct and behavior, reciprocal reporting agreements between the district and local law enforcement, school bus safety and student health (e.g., administration of medication in schools and practices related to concussions).
Our plan for the 2020-21 school year is to expand the size of PTAC to include more students and staff, as well as parents/guardians who will have children in grades six through 12 next year. The members of the group will also have the chance to offer their guidance and feedback on a variety of important issues and initiatives (in addition to the items listed above), including the efforts being undertaken to advance the district’s strategic plan.
If you would like to be considered for membership on PTAC for the 2020-21 school year, please fill out the form found at
by Friday, May 15
. Please note that applicants must be available to attend all five meetings we have planned for next year. While the dates and locations for these meetings are to be determined, each of them will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Please contact Superintendent Prentiss at
if you have questions or need more information about this opportunity or the committee in general. In the meantime, thank you for your time and attention to this message, and for your support of our students, staff, schools and community.
