Now Offering Online Scholarship Options for This Upcoming (European) Winter Semester
|
|
In light of the widespread effects of COVID-19, including global travel restrictions that may progress into early 2021, the DAAD has begun to adapt its offerings to accommodate a combination of online (distance education) and face-to-face learning/research!
These new adjustments include:
aiding online learning/digital research during the beginning of the scholarship, until the participant is able to travel to Germany and complete the remainder of their endeavours, allowing the recipient to delay the start of their scholarship by up to six months.
Such changes apply to both German students traveling abroad, as well as foreign students planning to undertake research or study in Germany. The DAAD will continue to closely monitor the development of the pandemic and will provide immediate updates on any further changes.
Do you have any questions about these adjustments, or your own circumstances?
Please don't hesitate to contact the DAAD IC Sydney or visit our
website

This Edition's Snippet of Germany
Getting Creative During the Pandemic - Car Disco
|
|
Germans love to party, and not even a pandemic can stop party-lovers from having a great time! In the town of Schüttorf, a three-hour live music event was arranged by Holger Bosch, the owner of one of the largest Discos in Germany.
The party was afforded to hundreds of vehicles who parked infront of the main stage, with a maximum of two people per car. Although the party-goers were forbidden from leaving their car, they showed their party spirit by flickering their car lights, beeping their horns and shaking within their cars!

Falling Walls Lab Australia - 2020
|
|
Established 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Falling Walls Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that dedicates itself to supporting the humanities and sciences. At its heart is the question ‘
Which are the next walls to fall?’
occurring a result of scientific, technological, economic and sociological breakthroughs.

T
he Australian Academy of Science
encourages all researchers who work/live in Australia, and are active in any field of the natural sciences (including technology, engineering, medicine) or social sciences and the humanities to apply! Based on the concept 'which walls will fall next', twenty individuals will be invited to give a three-minute presentation on their research, business model or initiative
This year's Walls Lab will be held in Australia on the
8th of September,
but for the the first time
online
! The winner will be then admitted to the Falling Walls Lab Finale in Berlin (also likely to be held online).
